ORLANDO, Fla. -- Seniors Michael Moody/Raleigh, N.C., Clark Cummings/Norfolk and Grayson Burns/Waynesboro each collected wins in both singles and doubles to lead Hampden-Sydney College to a 6-3 non-conference tennis win past Dickinson (Pa.) College on Tuesday night at the USTA National Campus Indoor Courts in Orlando, Florida. The Tigers improved to 2-5 overall, while the Red Devils dropped to 0-7 overall.
In doubles, Michael Moody and twin brother Matthew Moody/Raleigh, N.C. won at No. 1, 8-7 (7-3). Cummings and Burns won at No. 2, 8-5, while junior Andrew Donelson/McLean and freshman Patrick Conde/Virginia Beach fell at No. 3, 3-8.
In singles, Michael Moody won at No. 2 by scores of 7-5, 6-2. Cummings won at No. 3 by scores of 6-4, 6-2. Burns won at No. 4 by scores of 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (7-5), 10-3. Donelson won at No. 5 by scores of 2-6, 6-3, 14-12. Matthew Moody fell at No. 1 by scores of 0-6, 0-3 (retired-injury), while senior Zander Theoharis/Vero Beach, Fla. fell at No. 6 by scores of 0-6, 1-6.
H-SC is scheduled to play two matches again on Thursday, March 12, against Wheaton (Ill.) College and Wabash (Ind.) College in Orlando to conclude the Tigers' spring break trip.
