The Hampden-Sydney Rugby team competed in the National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO) Regional Championship on November 16th and 17th in Raleigh, NC. The Tigers finished as regional runners-up to the College of Charleston on Sunday by a 27-24 score. On Saturday, H-SC defeated Widener College 75-24 to reach the final. The ruggers earned the opportunity to compete in the NSCRO national tournament by winning the Cardinal Collegiate Rugby Conference tournament last weekend in Roanoke, defeating Roanoke and Emory and Henry to win the CCRC championship. The Tigers finished the CCRC Hybrid Division season as the number one seed for the CCRC tournament, ending the regular season with a 5-2 record. Through the CCRC and NSCRO tournaments the Tigers added 3 wins and 1 loss to complete the season with an overall 8-3 record. The Regional Championship qualifies the College of Charleston to compete in the National Championship on April 25th and 26th, 2020.
