ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Hampden-Sydney College swim team dropped a 207-36 duel to NCAA Division II opponent Barton on the road Saturday afternoon. The meet took place at the Harrison Family YMCA. The Tigers move to 4-3 on the season in dual meets.
In the second event of the day, sophomore Woody Parsons/Virginia Beach finished third in the 1000 Yard Free with a time of 10:50.00. In the 100 Yard Breast, sophomore Dane Warner/Norfolk and junior Anthony Vinson/Richmond finished third and fourth, respectively, in times of 1:13.65 and 1:23.29.
Parsons took home his first win of the day in the 200 Yard Fly with a time of 2:06.32, over two seconds ahead of the second-place Bulldog. Junior Zach Stephan/Hampton and sophomore Jason Covaney/Williamsburg finished two, three in the 50 Yard Free with times of :22.78 and :24.34, respectively. Stephan's time was just .03 off the winner from Barton.
In the 100 Yard Fly, Stephan narrowly finished second with a time of :55.26.
The Tigers return to the pool on Saturday, November 23 and Sunday, November 24 when they travel back to Randolph-Macon for the Yellow Jacket Invitational.
