Roanoke Shuts Down Soccer

Roanoke came out with a pivotal 4-0 win in a matchup of teams tied for second place in the ODAC coming into the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • In a defensive minded first half, neither team could get much of anything going on the offensive end
  • However, Roanoke's Cole Thornton corralled a long pass at the top of the box after a mistimed header by an H-SC defender, and with the goalkeeper off his line to try to make a play, Thornton poked it inside the left post at 33:07
  • Michael Chang made it 2-0 in the 49th minute while Thornton and Chang each scored again respectively in the 59th and 61st minutes

  • Amal Riley made two saves in 19 minutes of action
  • Landon Moss and Ryan Turner each registered one shot on goal
