Box Score HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA – Hampden-Sydney Lacrosse wrapped up the regular season with a 16-10 win over Virginia Wesleyan Marlins on Wednesday night. The Tigers have secured the #3 seed in the ODAC Tournament and will host the #6 seed, either Randolph-Macon or Guilford, on Tuesday at a time to be determined.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Josh Currier opened the scoring for the Marlins at 10:40
- Hunter Brown (Charlottesville, VA/Albemarle) assisted on the next two scores from Ian Levin (Chapel Hill, NC/East Chapel Hill) and Chandler Shaheen (Richmond, VA/St. Christopher's) to put the Tigers ahead 2-1 at 6:24
- VWC's Tyler Conn tied the game at 5:43, then the Tigers took over, scoring the next five goals to go ahead 7-2 with 7:40 left in the second quarter
- The Marlins didn't back down, and thanks to two penalties, they were able to claw their way back into the game with three straight goals, cutting the lead to 7-5 with 2:34 remaining in the half
- Brown pushed the lead back to three just 44 seconds later to make it an 8-5 game going into intermission
- The Tigers would dominate the third quarter
- Levin notched his fourth goal of the game just 1:01 into the second half, but Currier would negate it less than a minute later
- The last 13 minutes of the frame proved to be all Tigers as Shaheen and Levin found the back of the net to go with two scores from Brown
- The fourth quarter was much more closely contested, but the Marlins never threatened as they trailed by at least seven for the majority of the period
TIGER TOP PERFORMERS
- Brown had a career-best performance with four goals and three assists. He needs just one point to eclipse the 50-point plateau
- Levin notched five scores, pushing his season point total to 59. With one more point, he could become just the 11th player in school history with 60+ points and the first since Cole Hawthorne scored 64 in 2011
- Shaheen found the back of the net three times and assisted on two more goals
- Connor Pool (Charlotte, NC/Charlotte Catholic) totaled two goals and an assist
- Duncan Morris (Charlottesville, VA/Christchurch) and Jake Koferl (Huntersville, NC/Lake Norman) each contributed a goal and an assist
- Thomas Passenant (Charlotte, NC/Charlotte Country Day) forced four turnovers
FOR THE FOES
- Josh Currier came into the game ranking 10th in Division III history in career points and added eight more to his tally courtesy of seven goals and an assist. He eclipsed 100 points for the second time in his career
- Tyler Conn scored twice, John Roth had a goal and an assist, and Matt Baldwin dished out two assists
- Duncan Haight went 15-27 on face-offs with eight ground balls
- A trio of goalkeepers played for the Marlins but the group managed just four saves
STATS OF THE GAME
- H-SC scooped 30 ground balls compared to 22 for VWC
- The Marlins struggled to maintain possession and clear the ball, recording 17 turnovers while going just 10-for-15 on clears. The Tigers surrendered the ball on 13 times and were 16-for-17 clearing
- Hampden-Sydney outshot Virginia Wesleyan 36-29
- Five Tigers have now scored at least 40 points this season, the first time that has been accomplished in school history. Shaheen needs five points to make it six with 40+
