A pair of first half goals and stout goalkeeper play helped Emory & Henry hold off Hampden-Sydney 2-1 in a pivotal ODAC matchup.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • A blustery day on the hill caused difficulties early for the Hampden-Sydney defense and Jordan Couch scored as he picked up a deflection just a few yards in front of the goal at 10:20
  • Hampden-Sydney narrowly missed on an equalizer at 18:53 when Ryan Turner's header just inside the left post was cleared off the line by a Wasp defender
  • The Wasps capitalized again in the 37th minute as a Wasp corner kick led to a scrum in front of the net, and Chandler Copeland was able to tap in a highly contested loose ball as it trickled across the line.
  • The Tigers had numerous chances in the second half and broke through in the 64th minute on a William Jackson goal.
  • H-SC kept up the pressure and mounted a few more scoring chances but were unable to get the ball past Didier Grillet
