Randolph Defeats Soccer 3-2

LYNCHBURG, VA – Randolph College defeated Hampden-Sydney Soccer 3-2 on Wednesday night an an ODAC battle.

  • Ryan Turner (Raleigh, NC / Sanderson) passed the ball across the goal mouth to Costin Gregory (Raleigh, NC / Sanderson) who knocked it in the right side of the net at 13:36
  • Less than two minutes later, Randolph's Salvador Ramirez tied it at 1-1
  • Randolph would go on to outshoot the Tigers 9-1 in the first half
  • Hampden-Sydney opened the second half as the aggressors but a dangerous cross from Randolph's troy Jurney was deflected and found Ramirez who put it in the back of the net in the 65th minute to give the hosts a 2-1 advantage
  • Liam Hogan (Haymarket, VA / Battlefield) tied the game at 78:16 when he finished off a Hunter Weiland (Raleigh, NC / Heritage) pass
  • The Tigers committed a fatal foul in the box at 80:37 that led to the game-winning penalty kick goal from Blake Heatherly.
  • A few minutes later, Turner ran down the ball and got free from a defender but his outside shot went just wide left of the net.
