Soccer Opens Season With 2-1 Win

ARLINGTON, VA – A 53rd minute penalty kick goal from Costin Gregory (Raleigh, NC / Sanderson) provided the game-winning score in a 2-1 season-opening win over Marymount University. The win gives first-year head coach Ian McMichael his first career win.

  • Just over five minutes later, Marymount fouled the Tigers in the box, resulting in Gregory notching a penalty kick goal
  • A Robert Kerby (Hampton, VA / Kecoughtan) shot went off the post in the 79th minute, but Marymount's Nick Hars turned that around into a goal of his own at 80:45 to make it a 2-1 Tigers lead
  • Neither team managed a shot the rest of the game
