SALEM, VA - A buzzer-beating three-pointer at the end of regulation enabled Roanoke to hold off Hampden-Sydney 82-78 in a pivotal ODAC contest for both squads. Hampden-Sydney got the second half off to a strong start, leading 40-30 at 16:02 to force a Roanoke timeout. The timeout worked wonders for the Maroons as they dominated the next 12 minutes, outscoring the Tigers 29-9 to go ahead by 10, 59-59, with 4:06 remaining in the second half. H-SC called a timeout, and the course of the game reversed. The Tigers scored the next 11 points to go up 60-59 with just 44 seconds remaining. Seth Bradley then inbounded the ball into the frontcourt to Andrew Daniels who knocked in a 30-foot three-pointer to send the game into overtime.

Overtime proved to be back and forth with neither team able to gain any control over the game. Roanoke got their last points of the extra session at 1:01 off two Andrew Daniels free throws. The Tigers missed a three-pointer on their next possession, but Scott got the offensive rebound. Murray turned over the ball with 30 seconds left and Roanoke looked to have a transition opportunity, but Murray got a finger on the ball to tip it out of bounds off Daniels. Mitch Owens (Williamsburg, VA / Walsingham) had an open layup at 11 seconds, but Daniel Eacho fouled him to make him earn the two points at the foul line. Owens made both to tie the game at 72-72, and the defense forced a missed three pointer from John Fitchett.

H-SC scored three of the first four points in double overtime, but Daniels made another clutch three pointer at 3:08 to even the score at 76-76. Following an H-SC turnover at 1:37, Daniels missed a three but Fitchett got the offensive rebound off an Eacho layup and tipped it in to put Roanoke ahead 78-76 with one minute remaining. Murray missed a trey with 24 seconds left and Roanoke secured the win as Joey Miller went 4-4 at the charity stripe.
