HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA – Hampden-Sydney Swimming hosted Randolph-Macon, Ferrum, and Sweet Briar on Wednesday night. Randolph-Macon won the men's side with 130 points while H-SC earned 32 and Ferrum 31. The Yellow Jackets were also the women's victor, topping Sweet Briar 117-73.
Tate Socha broke the school record in 400 meter freestyle, setting the mark at 5:26.77 while finishing fifth. Ryan Mitchell's time of 2:11.67 in the 200 meter freestyle was good for third and is the second best time in H-SC history.
Mitchell won the 200 meter breaststroke with a time of 2:49.45. Gus Mohay, Christopher Mercer, James Hendrickson, and Miles Cutchin took second in the 200 meter freestyle relay, completing the event in 1:58.81.
Hampden-Sydney travels to Greensboro, NC for the first official Men's Swimming ODAC Championship title on the line. The meet takes place February 14-16 on the campus of Greensboro College.
