Box Score GREENSBORO, NC - Hampden-Sydney scored the first three goals in a 3-1 road victory over Guilford College on Wednesday night. H-SC moves to 5-3, 2-1 in the ODAC while Guilford falls to 3-6, 2-1.
Ryan Turner (Raleigh, NC/Sanderson) continued his hot play with a goal off a James Lawrence (Midlothian, VA/Midlothian) pass from the right wing at 4:41. Lawrence delivered another assist, this time to Robert Kerby (Hampton, VA/Kecoughtan), on a through ball in the box to put H-SC up 2-0 in the 23rd minute. Liam Hogan (Haymarket, VA/Battlefield) tacked on a third goal with 15:05 to play. Christian Torres ended the shutout in the 86th minute off a deflection.
H-SC outshot the Quakers 12-7 and held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks. Cameron McFarlane (Norwich, CT/South Kent) made three saves while Marko Mandalinic recorded four. Andrew Parker (Moseley, VA/Cosby) was outstanding defensively, helping lock down the Quakers leading goal scorer in Robert Sandidge who finished the game without a shot. Costin Gregory (Raleigh, NC/Sanderson) was dominant in the midfield while freshman Troy Hamner (Salem, VA/Salem) started his second straight game at right back to help the Tigers to another strong defensive performance.
Hampden-Sydney returns home for a match against Washington and Lee University on Saturday at 7 pm.
