Box Score HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA – Hampden-Sydney Basketball Head Coach Dee Vick earned his 100th career win on Tuesday night as the Tigers rolled past Roanoke College 104-82 in the ODAC Tournament First Round. The Tigers will advance to Salem, VA for the ODAC Tournament Quarterfinals. They will meet #1 seeded Randolph-Macon on Friday at 1 pm in the Salem Civic Center. The game was close in the early going with the Tigers leading 14-10 seven minutes in following a Daniel Eacho jump shot, then Hampden-Sydney rolled off a 10-0 run over the next four minutes to surge ahead 24-10. Hampden-Sydney would continue to pour it on from there, going up 53-31 at halftime and would lead by as many as 29 in the second half.
Leon Hargrove (Raleigh, NC / Middle Creek) flirted with a triple double as he tallied 12 points, nine assists, seven rebounds, and three steals as he made all five of his field goal attempts. Khobi Williamson (Norfolk, VA / Maury) scored a team-high 19 points along with nine boards as he shot 6-12 from the field and 7-10 from the foul line. Sasha Obradovic (Belgrade, Serbia / Hawaii Prep) contributed 13 points and six caroms, and Stephen Vassor (Roanoke Rapids, NC / Brunswick) added on 13 points as he was nearly flawless shooting 5-5 on field goals and 3-4 on free throws. Greg Lewis (Mechanicsville, VA / Hanover) caught fire from three, going 4-5 from beyond the arc while scoring 14, and Mitch Owens (Williamsburg, VA / Walsingham) canned three trifectas to tack on 11 points.
Andrew Daniels paced Roanoke with a game-high 22 points, shooting 7-13 from the field and 4-8 from deep range. Daniel Eacho, Roanoke's leading scorer and rebounder, managed just five rebounds and scored 15 but struggled shooting at a 5-15 mark. Cameron Smith added on 12 points and five boards.
Hampden-Sydney crushed Roanoke on the glass, outrebounding the Maroons 44-33 including grabbing 17 offensive rebounds. The Tigers were hot shooting, going 53.5% overall and 10-20 from three. Roanoke was limited to a 41.7% output, including a 32% first-half performance, and made 8-22 threes. H-SC controlled the paint, holding a 19-8 advantage in second chance points and a 36-18 margin in points in the paint. The bench played a huge role, accounting for 60 points compared to only 23 for the visitors.
