Swimming Kicks Off Home Schedule With 136-92 Win Over Ferrum

 

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA - Hampden-Sydney Swimming defeated Ferrum College 136-92 in its home-opening meet on Wednesday night. The Ferrum women's team also dropped a 150-101 decision to Hollins University.

Treavor Hartwell placed first in the 200 meter freestyle, finishing nearly 21 seconds ahead of the second place swimmer at 2:32.62. Tyler Godwin finished the 100 meter breaststroke in 1:18.20 to take top honors in the event. Conor O'Heir finished as the top man in the 200 meter butterfly with a time of 2:46.91. Ford Scott won the 50 meter freestyle in 26.45 while Lee Ayscue clocked in at 1:01.35 in the 100 meter freestyle to win.

Calvin Charles took home first in the 200 meter backstroke with a time of 2:45.47, and Godwin also placed first in the 200 meter breaststroke at 2:57.80. O'Heir won his second race of the night when he hit the finishing block at 1:06.82 in the 100 meter butterfly. The foursome of Ayscue, Charles, Evan Todero, and Scott placed first in the 400 meter freestyle relay, finishing in 4:13.37.

The Tigers return to the pool on Friday when they travel to Ashland, VA to participate in the Yellow Jacket Invitational Friday thru Saturday.
