Tigers Dominate First Round in D3 State Championships

RICHMOND, VA–Third seeded H-SC faced off against second seed CNU, while first seed W&L faced off against Emory and Henry College. Neither the Tigers nor the Captains were able to put points on the board for the first twenty minutes. The Tigers finally pushed the ball into the Captains' red zone when Dakota Reinartz popped a pass off the back of a ruck into the hands of Conor McCabe who barreled through the CNU defense to put points up. The conversion attempt was unsuccessful – as it would be on all of the Tigers' tries this day. Six minutes later Greg Regan added a try, while Charlie Kyle added five more points in the 30th minute. The Captains rallied with two converted tries in the 35th and 38th minute. Less than three minutes passed in the second half before Austin Burke scored a try for the Tigers and James Dargan followed up with a try of his own five minutes later. The Captains never lost their fighting spirit, scoring a try in the 55th minute. Although both teams continued to fight, neither was able to put more points on the scoreboard and the match ended in the Tigers' favor, 27-19.
