RICHMOND, VA–The Virginia Commonwealth University Rams took the Tiger's kick off and skillfully worked it down field to score with just five minutes on the clock. A Rams penalty put the ball into H-SC control. Greg Regan's perfect kick gave H-SC a line out on the Rams' five meter line. Austin Burke's perfectly timed jump kept the ball in Tiger hands, allowing Conor McCabe to slice through the Rams' goal line defense, but not to center the ball. Regan's kick went wide and the Tigers remained down. Six minutes later James Dargan picked up the ball at the back of a H-SC ruck, spinning out of the arms of a would be Ram tackler and into the in-goal for a H-SC try. Regan's kick flew straight through posts putting the Tigers up 12-7. A penalty kick for points let the Rams narrow the gap, but the Tigers were able to close the half with a 12-10 lead. Most of the second half was a back and forth battle, but three trips to the Rams red-zone failed to produce a score. VCU was able to capitalize on their large scrum and tall jumpers to control the scrums and line outs. Two VCU tries and a conversion put the final score at 22-12.
