Captains Cruise Past Tigers 34-29

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA–The Tigers took control over the match immediately, with Austin Burke bursting through the Captains' defense to score in the fourth minute. Greg Regan's kick flew through the goal posts adding two points. The Captains answered back with seven points of their own in the 12th minute. Possession traded between the two teams until the 25th minute when Peter Keenan broke the Captains' defensive line to score in the corner, giving Regan an impossible kick. CNU answered right back, with their own try in the 27th minute, although they too failed to convert. Six minutes later, CNU notched five more points, and the half ended with the score at 17-12. A drought in the scoring persisted until the 58th minute when James Dargan punched in a try on the corner, which Tom Bourne was unable to convert. CNU responded with two unconverted tries, H-SC began to rally, working harder to protect the ball in the ruck and running phase after phase to bring the ball downfield. This time Bourne took the ball in-goal for the Tigers' final try and Regan added two more points, as time ran out before the Tigers could score again.
