Box Score
HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA - James Lawrence (Midlothian, VA/Midlothian) scored twice in the second-half to guide Hampden-Sydney Soccer to a 2-0 win at Randolph-Macon on Tuesday.
The Tigers had a 9-6 shot advantage in the first half, but both teams registered just one shot on goal in the opening frame. It didn't take long in the second half for Lawrence to strike first when he got behind the defense and finished off a Costin Gregory (Raleigh, NC/Sanderson) pass to make it a 1-0 game at 52:06. The Tigers kept up the pressure and following a throw in, Ryan Turner (Raleigh, NC/Sanderson) deflected the ball to Lawrence who finished off a shot from close range in the 64th minute. The defense closed out the game allowing only two shots on goal in the second half.
Josiah Fleming (San Antonio, TX/Monticello) and Joe Tyler (Colonial Heights, VA/Colonial Heights) did a great job defensively locking down the Yellow Jackets while Liam Hogan (Haymarket, VA/Battlefield) and Andrew Parker (Moseley, VA/Cosby) played a big role in controlling the midfield and creating scoring chances.
H-SC outshot R-MC 17-12.
