Box Score

LEXINGTON, VA - Parker Wolfinger's goal in the 79th minute gave the Washington and Lee Generals a 1-0 win in the ODAC Tournament Quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers played neck-to-neck with the Generals in the first half as each team saw several strong goal scoring chances only to see superb goalkeeper plays thwart their shots. The Tigers would go into halftime leading in shots 9-7.

Hampden-Sydney opened the second-half with a shot on goal but Albert Civitarese turned it back. W&L upped their defensive intensity in the second half and kept H-SC on their defensive half of the field for most of the final 45. W&L got the winning tally off an Al Organ throw in as Wolfinger tapped in a deflected ball.

Following the goal, the Tigers subbed in a couple forwards in place of defensive players and was able to get a rhythm going on offense. James Lawrence (Midlothian, VA/Midlothian) got off a shot in the 85th minute that went just high. Just over a minute later, Alex Thexton (Moseley, VA/Cosby) got loose for a shot but it went wide, and the Tigers got one other good look for a goal but wasn't able to connect the final pass for the shot.

W&L had a narrow edge in shots at 15-12 and shots on goal, 7-4. Each team recorded four corner kicks, but W&L committed 17 fouls to 11 for Hampden-Sydney. Cameron McFarlane (Norwich, CT/South Kent) finished the game with five saves.

Hampden-Sydney ends the season with a 9-6-3 overall record, a 6-3-2 ODAC mark, and a 6-0-2 home record.
