BRIDGEWATER, VA (October 25, 2005)—Bridgewater College defeated Hampden-Sydney College, 2-0, Tuesday in the final regular season contest for both teams in Old Dominion Athletic Conference soccer action. With the win, the Eagles improve to 5-4 in the ODAC and 10-9 overall while the Tigers drop to 5-4 in conference play and 10-7-1 overall.
Bridgewater put up scores in both halves as Seth Carpenter scored the first in the 15th minute off an assist from Chad Hall. In the 48th minute of action, John Costello delivered the second goal for the Eagles, who held on for the 2-0 victory.
Tiger freshman keeper Ben Marchetti (Richmond, VA/Benedictine) registered six saves on the afternoon as Bridgewater out-shot Hampden-Sydney, 16-13, while both teams recorded two corner kicks.
The Tigers will return to action Saturday, October 29, in the first round of action of the 2005 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament. Seedings and pairings for the tournament will be announced later tonight.
