#4 Seed Hampden-Sydney Wins In Overtime 12-11 Over #5 Seed Randolph-Macon On Will Foley Goal

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Freshman Will Foley (Virginia Beach) scored the winning goal one minute and 50 seconds into overtime to give Hampden-Sydney College a 12-11 win over the No. 5 Seed Randolph-Macon College in the 2026 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men's Lacrosse Quarterfinals on Monday evening at Hellmuth-Gibson Field.

The Tigers opened the scoring with two goals in less than a minute of game action, as freshman Brenden Kittner (Freeland, MD) found junior Kavin Wood (Cary, NC) for the goal, and Myers struck for his first of the evening just 44 seconds later. H-SC made it three straight when senior Tyler Steele (Pinehurst, NC) found sophomore Cole Palmer (Atlanta, GA) in some space on the break, and he cut through three defenders before putting it home while cutting across the face of goal. The Yellow Jackets clawed one back, but just over a minute later, junior Cameron Van Lunen (Southern Shores, NC) got the outlet pass from Steele on the break and took it himself for the goal. Randolph-Macon scored once more before the first quarter came to a close, but H-SC led 4-2 after 15 minutes.

H-SC kept the offense rolling in the second, as 44 seconds into the quarter, senior Davis Mack (Henrico) found freshman Brown Parker (Raleigh, NC), who fired a shot while running to his left through the legs of the goal to push the lead to three. Randolph-Macon answered the goal just 10 seconds later, but at the 12:58 mark, Myers got the pass from senior Patrick Hanes (Raleigh, NC) and rifled it into the top right corner of the net. The Yellow Jackets answered once more, but H-SC came right back again when Kittner found Parker in some space, and he bounced it inside the far post from the right side for the goal. Randolph-Macon was able to answer again, scoring twice to close the quarter and make it 7-6 in favor of the Tigers going into halftime.

Myers got his hat trick to start the scoring in the third as he beat his defender to his left, which got him the space to fire a shot over the stick of the goalie to stop the Randolph-Macon run. In the space of the next minute of action, the Yellow Jackets answered, and then the Tigers answered 28 seconds after, when Wood found Mack in front of the net on the edge of the crease for the quick catch and finish. The Yellow Jackets answered once again, scoring three unanswered to take the lead with 2:13 remaining. Myers evened the scores with 44 seconds remaining, when he beat his defender and ducked between two, to then bounce a shot home to make it 10-10 going into the final 15 minutes.

The Tigers wasted no time taking the lead in the fourth quarter, as two minutes and 15 seconds in, Wood found Brown cutting towards the net, and he pump faked once before putting it in the back of the net. The Tigers had the lead until the final seconds, with Randolph-Macon finding the equalizer with 10 seconds remaining to force overtime.

The overtime saw the Tigers win the face-off but fail to clear the ball giving the Yellow Jackets an opportunity to win it. After two shots missed the mark, Van Lunen was able to knock the ball out of the stick of a Randolph-Macon attackman with five seconds left on the shot clock, and he picked up the loose ball and found Foley on the break, who attacked the body of a defenseman to make space and fired home the shot to win the game for H-SC 12-11.

Myers led the way offensively with four goals, with Parker adding three goals. Wood had a goal and two assists, with Mack adding a goal and an assist. Van Lunen, Palmer, and Foley scored a goal for H-SC. Steele and Kittner each had two assists on the evening, with Hanes helping provide an assist as well.

Defensively, Van Lunen led the way with three caused turnovers and five ground balls. Steele caused two turnovers and grabbed six ground balls, while Foley and freshman Nathan Chay (Virginia Beach) each caused a turnover.

Senior goalie Will Palmer (Atlanta, GA) got his 10th win in net this season, making 15 saves.

The Tigers will advance to the ODAC Men's Lacrosse Semifinals against Washington and Lee University on Friday, May 1. The game time is yet to be determined, but it will be played at Wilson Field in Lexington.
