Cameron Van Lunen (Southern Shores, NC) and
Kavin Wood (Cary, NC) scored two goals, but Hampden-Sydney College fell to No. 1 Seed Washington and Lee University in the 2026 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men's Lacrosse Semifinals 16-6 on Friday evening at Wilson Field.
The Generals opened the scoring with two unanswered before senior
Connor Erlenbach (Midlothian) took the face-off win all the way to cut the lead to one. Washington and Lee then closed the quarter with four goals to make it 6-1 going into the second quarter.
The Generals kept the offense rolling in the second quarter, scoring three unanswered before the Tigers responded when junior
Trey Black (Pinehurst, NC) found Wood on the break to cut the lead to seven. Washington and Lee responded again, closing the quarter with three more goals as H-SC trailed 12-2 going into halftime.
H-SC opened the scoring in the third quarter, as at the 7:44 mark, freshman
Max Schneider (Woodford) drove down the right side and snuck a ball inside the near post to cut the lead to nine. The Tigers made it two straight six minutes later when sophomore
Cole Palmer (Atlanta, GA) found Van Lunen in transition to make it 12-4 going into the fourth quarter.
Washington and Lee opened the fourth quarter with three goals before the Tigers responded with Van Lunen firing home his second on a shot from distance at the 6:36 mark. H-SC made it two unanswered when sophomore
Barron Dobson (Shreveport, LA) found Wood cutting across his defender, and Wood was able to bounce it over the goalie for the goal. The Generals found the back of the net with 31 seconds left, and the Tigers were unable to score again as they fell 16-6.
The Tigers were led offensively by Van Lunen and Wood, who each scored twice. Erlenbach and Schneider each scored for the Tigers on the evening. Black, Dobson, and Palmer had assists for H-SC.

Nick Wilkins (Glen Allen) led the way defensively for H-SC with three caused turnovers and three ground balls. Van Lunen had two caused turnovers for the Tigers, with Black, senior
