Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men's Basketball Tournament Quarterfinal home win past the University of Lynchburg on Tuesday night on Tony Shaver Court in Diaz Arena at Kirby Field House. The host and fourth-seeded Tigers led 42-27 at halftime, but the visiting and fifth-seeded Hornets rallied back to lead 50-49 with 10:46 remaining, before the Garnet & Grey regained control with an 18-4 run toward the triumph.

Colin Radcliffe (Richlands, NC) added 13 points off the bench for the Tigers. H-SC improved to 17-9 overall and advances to play nationally-ranked No. 1 and top-seeded Randolph-Macon College in an ODAC Tournament Semifinal contest on Friday, February 27, at 5 p.m. at the Salem Civic Center in Salem. Lynchburg finished 14-12 overall, and was led by Jamarcus Brown with a game-high 23 points, and Michael Gray with 18 points off the bench.

H-SC jumped out to an early 9-0 advantage at 15:12, getting a pair of baskets from freshman guard

Lynchburg got its first points on a pair of free throws by Brown at 14:56, but five-straight points by Stickney, including a three-pointer, had the Tigers ahead 14-2 with 13:40 on the first-half clock. It was 17-6 after another three-pointer from Radcliffe at 11:49, but the Hornets were within 21-16 after a three-pointer by Jayson Easton at 9:24. The Tigers continued their momentum and led 42-27 at halftime with Stickney (10), Radcliffe (8), Solomon (7) and White (6) combining for 31 of the 42 first-half points.

Alex Cannon (Loganville, GA) to lead 44-27 at 19:43, but Lynchburg responded with a 23-5 run to take its first and only lead of the contest at 50-49 with 10:46 left to play as Gray connected on a three-pointer. Brown sparked the outburst with 11 points, while Jesse Mitchell added five points, including a three-pointer, as well. The Tigers, however, answered back with an 18-4 run of their own to regain control and lead 67-54 with 5:36 remaining after a layup by White. Moye sparked the decisive spree with nine points, including the first five, while Cannon (2), Britt (2), Radcliffe (2), White (2) and Stickney (1) each contributed, as well. The visitors managed to close within 74-66 with just 1:35 on the clock, but the Garnet & Grey secured their home triumph with 6-6 free throws over the final 1:24, including 4-4 by Stickney and 2-2 by Britt, along with a press-breaking layup by Moye—assisted by Stickney—toward the final margin.
Stickney led H-SC with his 19 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, adding one steal. Moye finished with his first career double-double of 16 points and career-high 10 rebounds for the Tigers, adding one assist. Radcliffe contributed his 13 points off the bench, while White had 10 points, a career-high six rebounds, along with three assists and one steal. Britt had eight points, three rebounds and one block, Cannon had seven points, seven rebounds and one block, and Solomon had seven points, three rebounds and one block. H-SC shot 50% (29-58) from the field, including 26% (6-23) on three-pointers, and 78% (18-23) at the free throw line.
Brown led Lynchburg with his game-high 23 points, adding three assists. Gray finished with 18 points off the bench for the Hornets. Easton (13 points, 11 rebounds) and Mitchell (11 points, 12 rebounds) each had double-doubles. Lynchburg shot 34% (26-76) from the field, including 22% (7-32) on three-pointers, and 65% (11-17) at the line.
As mentioned, H-SC advances to play nationally-ranked No. 1 and top-seeded RMC in an ODAC Tournament Semifinal contest on Friday, Feb. 27, at 5 p.m. at the Salem Civic Center in Salem. The Yellow Jackets defeated eighth-seeded Guilford (NC) College 94-73 in another quarterfinal game in Ashland, as each of the top four seeds won at home and advanced to Salem this weekend.
