The Tigers got the scoring started in the game exactly two minutes in, when Palmer scored off an assist from Wood. H-SC doubled its tally just four seconds later when Van Lunen put home the feed from junior Jack Duffy (Ambler, PA). After a goal from the Vikings at the 11:21 mark, the rest of the quarter belonged to the Tigers, beginning at the 9:49 mark with the first of two straight goals by Conley, first off, an assist from junior Landon Honig (Glen Allen) and a second off the pass from freshman Will Foley (Virginia Beach). After the Conley double, Wood followed it up with two consecutive of his own, first coming off the pass from freshman Alex DeBender (Raleigh, NC) and then off the first assist in the game from senior Partrick Hanes (Raleigh, NC). Senior Davis Mack (Henrico) got in the scoring column just 12 seconds later, and sophomore Palmer scored off a pass from sophomore Riley Mullins (Glen Allen) to make it 8-1 after one.

The Tigers kept it rolling to start the second quarter, as Mack doubled his tally at the 11:56 mark to make it seven unanswered. Berry ended the scoring run two minutes and 56 seconds later, before Conley got his hat trick to restore the lead to seven. Palmer got his hat trick at the 3:17 mark off a pass from freshman Nathan Chay (Virginia Beach), to make it three goals in eight minutes. Berry clawed one back at the 1:36 mark, before freshman Max Schneider (Woodford) scored with 38 seconds left to make it 15-3 after 30 minutes.

It took just 47 seconds into the second half for the Tigers to add to their lead with Van Lunen getting his second of the afternoon. The Vikings found their stride with just over five minutes remaining, scoring three consecutive goals over the next four minutes. Despite the three straight from Berry, H-SC closed the third quarter with a goal at the 1:02 mark, when junior Trey Black (Pinehurst, NC) found junior Will Thompson (Charlotte, NC) for the goal to make it 17-6 going into the final 15 minutes.
