Hampden-Sydney Welcomes Washington and Lee On Saturday For Senior Day At 2 p.m.

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College plays its regular season finale at home against Washington and Lee University in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon, February 21, at 2 p.m. on Tony Shaver Court in Diaz Arena at Kirby Field House. The host Tigers are 15-9 overall, 9-6 in the ODAC (T-4th), while the visiting Generals are 17-7 overall, also 9-6 in the ODAC (T-4th). The Garnet & Grey have secured their participation in the 2026 ODAC Tournament, and have an opportunity to earn the fourth seed and host a quarterfinal, depending upon the outcomes of this contest and the Virginia Wesleyan University at the University of Lynchburg contest. The Senior Day game can be heard locally on WVHL Radio, Kickin' Country 92.9 FM with pregame at 6:30 p.m., and will also be available worldwide on the Internet at wvhl.net or via the TuneIn Radio App, while available to watch at flocollege.com.

Head Coach Caleb Kimbrough
H-SC is led by the seventh-year head coach who took over the program on April 4, 2019. The former head coach at Huntingdon (AL) College from 2016-19, Kimbrough is the 19th head coach in the 116-year history of the storied Hampden-Sydney program. He is no stranger to the ODAC, having played four years at Guilford (NC) College and coached six years with the Quakers, and one year at Washington and Lee. Kimbrough is 121-53 at the College, ranking sixth in program coaching wins, while his current winning percentage (.695) ranks second all-time. He is a two-time National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III District 6 Coach of the Year (2022-23, 2023-24), was the 2022-23 ODAC Men's Basketball Bob Johnson Coach of the Year and the 2024-25 D3hoops.com Region 6 Coach of the Year.

2025-26 Coaching Staff
Coach Kimbrough is aided this season by second-year associate head coach Bryson Gibson, also in his seventh year with the program, fourth-year assistant coach Carson Long, along with first-year assistant coach Zach Hinton.

Scouting Hampden-Sydney
H-SC took an 80-35 home win past ODAC member Randolph College on Feb. 18 in Diaz Arena. The Tigers have been led by a trio of sophomore guards in Peter Moye (Charlotte, NC) (11.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 43 3FGs), Santana Lynch (Dallas, TX) (11.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, 57% FGs) and Travis Stickney (Mount Pleasant, SC) (10.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 29 3FGs), as well as senior guard Colin Radcliffe (Richlands, NC) (10.0 points, 51 3FGs). Sophomore guard Tugg Bizzelle (Baltimore, MD) (9.3 points, 18 3FGs) and senior forward Shane Fernald (Charlotte, NC) (9.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, 50% FGs) have been consistent contributors, as well. H-SC shoots 45% (657-1459) from the field, including 33% (175-527) on three-point field goals, and 67% (323-480) at the free throw line. The Tigers average 75.5 points, and yield 68.4 points, for a +7.1 scoring margin.

Scouting Washington and Lee
W&L, coached by ninth-year head coach Chris McHugh, took a 79-56 home win past Bridgewater College on Feb. 18. The Generals have been led by sophomore forward Connor Amorosi (16.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 29 3FGs), senior forward Colin Ryan (9.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.2 assists) and freshman forward Addison Newkirk (9.3 points, 7.1 rebounds). W&L shoots 43% (595-1394) from the field, including 34% (199-587) on three-pointers, and 67% (365-542) at the line. The Generals average 73.1 points, and yield 67.4 points, for a +5.7 scoring margin.

Series History
H-SC leads the all-time series against W&L, 83-56. The Tigers have won three-straight and four of five versus the Generals, including a 69-59 road win last January 15 in Lexington. Coach Kimbrough is 4-3 against W&L since taking over the program for the 2019-20 season, including 2-0 at home, along with an 81-56 win past the Generals in the 2024 ODAC Tournament Championship on Feb. 25, 2024 at the Salem Civic Center. H-SC is 45-14 all-time at home versus the Generals.

Senior Day
H-SC will recognize its five seniors with a special pregame ceremony for  Davis Cauble, Shane Fernald, Colin Radcliffe, Grayson Schultz and Kolby Wright. 

NCAA Division III Team Statistics (Top 25)
H-SC ranks second in Division III in rebound margin (11.5) and 14th in rebounds per game (43.5).


ODAC Individual Statistics (Top 10)
Travis Stickney
is tied for second in the ODAC in assists (4.1), third in minutes (33.7), tied for sixth in assist/turnover ratio (1.5), tied for eighth in steals (1.4) and tied for 10th in rebounding (5.7). Santana Lynch is second in rebounding (7.5) and field goal percentage (57.0). Alex Cannon is second in blocks (1.4). Colin Radcliffe is sixth in three-pointers (51) and ninth in three-point percentage (35.4).

The Team Three-Point Stat
H-SC has made at least one three-pointer in 546 consecutive games, dating back to a 2005 home game vs. Emory & Henry (12/3, 0-1 3FGA). Ironically, the Tigers won that high-scoring contest ... 130-99 without making a three-pointer.

2025-26 Team Captain
Leading the Tigers is  senior guard Grayson Schultz (Moseley), who is a second-year team member serving in the leadership role for the first time. He was a team manager during his first two years at the College, before joining the team for 2024-25. Grayson is the son of Glenn and Paige Schultz and is majoring in economics and business.

Former Tigers Now Division I Head Coaches
H-SC currently has two former basketball team members and graduates of the College that are serving as NCAA Division I head coaches. Russell Turner '92 is in his 16th year at UC Irvine and Ryan Odom '96 is in his first season at Virginia and his 10th season as a DI head coach (UMBC, Utah State, VCU). Through Feb. 19, Turner was 339-196 at UCI (18-9 this season) and Odom was 224-120 overall, including 23-3 this season at (14/14)UVA, 52-21 in two years at VCU, 44-25 in two years at USU and 97-60 in five years at UMBC. Griff Aldrich '96 is in his first season as the associate head coach at UVA after serving as head coach at Longwood the past seven seasons where he was 127-100 overall. Additionally, Ryan Silverfield '03 was named the 35th head football coach at Arkansas on November 30. Silverfield was 50-25 in six years at Memphis, including 8-4 this season.

The 2026 ODAC Men's Basketball Tournament begins on Tuesday, Feb. 24, with quarterfinal contests at the highest four seeds. The semifinals and championship will be played at the Salem Civic Center on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 27-28. Complete tournament pairings and details will be available on Sunday, Feb. 22.
