BOX SCORE
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Senior quarterback and team captain
Carter Sido (Dallas, TX) passed for a game-high 276 yards and game-high and career-high six touchdowns, and senior wide receiver and team captain
Mason Cunningham (Arlington) had a game-high 144 yards receiving and a game-high and career-high-tying three touchdowns, all in the first half, as (25)Hampden-Sydney College took a 69-14 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) football road win at Guilford College on Saturday afternoon in Greensboro, North Carolina. The visiting Tigers (4-0, 2-0) led 14-7 after one quarter and 48-7 at halftime, before outscoring the host Quakers (1-3, 0-2) 21-7 in the second half. Sido's six touchdown passes tie for the third-most in program history, only behind J.D. Ricca (2005) and Travis Lane (2011), each with seven TD tosses in a game (Ricca-3x and Corey Sedlar each have six in a game, as well). The Garnet & Grey are 4-0 for the first time since 2010, while the 69 points are the most scored under second-year head coach
Vince Luvara, and the highest total since a 70-28 non-conference home win past Greensboro College on September 17, 2022—surpassing a 68-24 ODAC home win past Guilford on October 27, 2012.
"Proud of the team's effort and fight," said Luvara. "Thought we were effective in all three phases of the football game."
H-SC, ranked 25th in this week's American Football Coaches Association (AFCA)
D3 Coaches Poll, set the tone early as the Tigers' defense came up with a fumble recovery by sophomore linebacker
Jordan Pence (Charlotte, NC) on the game's opening possession at the GC 15-yard line. The Garnet & Grey promptly scored on three plays culminating with Sido finding Cunningham in the back-left corner of the end zone for a nine-yard touchdown pass at 13:08. Junior punter/placekicker
Camden Richardson (Midlothian) had his PAT kick blocked; however, the point was awarded via a one-point safety after the home team attempted an illegal forward pass during the play, resulting in the early 7-0 advantage.
The Quakers were able to tie it at 7-7 when Luke Hyatt connected with Cameron Campbell on a five-yard scoring play at 4:23, as Asher Frisbee added the PAT kick.
H-SC went back ahead for good when Sido and Cunningham connected on their second scoring play of the quarter, similar to the first score but this time on a 20-yard touchdown pass at 3:32 for a 14-7 advantage. Richardson added the first of his five PAT kicks. It was a quick three-play, 35-yard drive set-up by a 58-yard kickoff return by senior running back/return specialist
Joseph Gonzalez (Spotsylvania).
The Tigers had a huge second quarter, outscoring GC 34-0 over the final 7:42 of the quarter, to take an insurmountable 48-7 lead at halftime. Sido found senior wide receiver

Tyler Hendley (Charlotte, NC) in the back of the end zone for Hendley's first collegiate reception and touchdown reception at 3:23 for a 35-7 lead. It was yet another unbelievable catch made by the Tigers' outstanding group of receivers, this time by Hendley.
Following a quick three-and-out by the Garnet & Grey defense, the visitors had the ball at their own 13-yard line. A penalty pushed it back to the eight, but no problem, Sido found Cunningham racing down the left side of the field for a 92-yard touchdown pass with Cunningham covering the final 62 yards after the catch for a 42-7 advantage at 1:52. H-SC was not done yet, either, as the defense forced another quick three-and-out with the offense taking over and going 46 yards on four plays for another touchdown. Connor Creech (Winston-Salem, NC) scored on a seven-yard run—his first collegiate touchdown—to finish a quick seven-play, 61-yard drive that began at the end of the third stanza. Foley had an 11-yard run to begin the possession, while sophomore running back
Brice Pool (Danville) added an 18-yard run and Creech had an 18-yard completion to junior wide receiver
