ODAC WEEKLY REPORT
HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College senior running back and return specialist
Joseph Gonzalez (Spotsylvania) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Football
Special Teams Player of the Week for week two games played on September 13. He was selected for his outstanding kick return efforts during the Tigers' 38-31 non-conference home win past (RV)Washington & Jefferson (PA) College on Fulton Field at Lewis C. Everett Stadium.
Joseph had six kick returns totaling a game-high and career-high 193 yards, including long returns of 51 yards in the third quarter and 45 yards in the second quarter against the Presidents. An apparent 91-yard return for a touchdown was nullified by a penalty and reduced to 31 yards in the second quarter, while the 51-yarder would have been an 88-yard TD return if not ruled that he had stepped out of bounds down the left sideline. Gonzalez added 20 yards rushing against W&J for a game-high and career-high 213 all-purpose yards. Joseph leads the ODAC in kick return yards (251) and is second in kick return average (31.4), while ranking fourth in DIII kick return yards and 16th in kick return average.
H-SC (2-0) will welcome visiting Shenandoah University in its ODAC opener on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 1 p.m. at Everett Stadium. It isÂ
Hall of Fame Weekend at the College, and the Class of 2025 will be recognized at halftime.
