HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College seventh-year head basketball coach
Caleb Kimbrough has announced the recent appointment of
Zach Hinton as an Assistant Coach. Hinton previously served as an assistant coach at William Peace University for the past four seasons (2021-25).
"I have known Zach for several years through recruiting circles, and I've always been impressed by his work ethic," said Kimbrough. "He's a relentless recruiter and has the kind of drive that elevates those around him. If he coaches anything like he played, he will bring exactly the toughness and competitiveness we value at Hampden-Sydney."
At WPU, Zach served as the head of recruiting while involved in all aspects of the program. He created scouting reports on opponents and present in film session, led individual workouts and coordinated postgame logistics for home and away contests. The Pacers posted a school-record 18 wins during 2022-23 (18-9), advancing to the USA South Conference Tournament Championship game, and followed with a record of 14-13 in 2023-24 for the finest back-to-back seasons in program history. Zach recruited the 2023-24 USA South Rookie of the Year, as well.
Hinton also served a brief stint as an assistant coach at Bridgewater College from May to August 2022, before returning to William Peace. He was primarily involved in all aspects of recruiting at BC along with film breakdown for teaching offensive concepts.
A native of Manassas, Zach is a 2020 graduate of fellow Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) member Randolph College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business. He was a three-year member of the men's basketball team for the WildCats, starting 20 of 54 career games, scoring a career-high 19 points versus the University of Mary Washington during his senior season. Zach earned his Master of Arts degree in Coaching and Sport Leadership at Randolph in 2021.
