Hampden-Sydney Cruises To 25-3 Win Past Randolph

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College used 18 different goal scorers to take a 25-3 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory over Randolph College on Wednesday.

The Tigers wasted no time getting the scoring started as six seconds into the game, junior Evan Yntema (Summerfield, NC) found freshman Cole Palmer (Atlanta, GA) for the goal. Just 51 seconds later the lead was doubled as Palmer found junior Patrick Hanes (Raleigh, NC) for the goal. The Tigers made it three at the 12:59 mark, as Hanes found senior Campion White (Apex, NC) for the strike. Sophomore Kevin Myers (Charlottesville) scored the first of two straight goals at the 9:01 mark, finishing off a Hanes assist before finishing off a pass from sophomore Kavin Wood (Cary, NC) just over two minutes later. Junior Davis Mack (Henrico) got on the board 25 seconds after Myers' second goal to push the lead to six. H-SC closed the quarter with three goals in a minute of action, starting at the 1:58 mark with the first career goal for senior John James (Berlin, MD). The second goal was scored by freshman Bryce Harnsberger (Advance, NC) and the final goal of the quarter was the first of the season for sophomore Will Thompson (Charlotte, NC) off a pass from freshman McGuire Boyd (Richmond) to make it 9-0 after 15 minutes.

H-SC kept its offense rolling into the second quarter, as Thompson made it two straight for him off an assist from freshman Kaidan Garst (Salem). Two minutes and 28 seconds later the roles swapped as Garst finished off a feed from Thompson to make it 11 unanswered for the Tigers. The WildCats responded at the 8:31 mark, getting on the board before freshman Barron Dobson (Shreveport, LA) scored his first career goal off an assist from fellow classmate Nick Esposito (Yardley, PA). After assisting on a goal, Esposito got his first career goal at the 5:49 mark off an assist from freshman Charlie Olivier (Atlanta, GA). Just over a minute later, the Tigers added another as senior Griff Ray (Salem) finished off a feed from freshman Nick Winchell (Wilmington, DE). Less than a minute later sophomore Jacob Messinger (Charlottesville) got on the board with a goal, followed by senior Stuart Kyle (Leesburg) scoring off an assist from senior Harry Deller (Baltimore, MD) one minute and eight seconds later. Esposito closed out the scoring in the quarter with a goal at the 56-second mark as H-SC took a 17-1 lead into halftime.

The third quarter opened with the first career goal for freshman Nick D'Alessandro (West Chester, PA) off an assist from freshman Brendan Li (East Lyme, CT). Thompson got his hat trick 45 seconds later, putting home his shot off the pass from D'Alessandro. Freshman Michael Green (Leland, NC) scored his first career goal just three seconds after Thompson. Harnsberger got his second of the game at the 4:42 mark and was followed by the second for Dobson one minute and eight seconds later to make it 22-1 after 45 minutes.
