Chase Sanford (Mechanicsville) each had three hits, junior center fielder and team captain 
Jack Wilson (Petersburg) collected two hits, and sophomore catcher 
Noah Leonard (Troutville) had two RBIs, but Hampden-Sydney College dropped a 5-4, 11-inning Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) baseball decision on the road at archrival Randolph-Macon College on Wednesday afternoon in Ashland. Sophomore left-hander 
Adam Emhoff (Chesapeake) took the pitching setback in late relief for the visiting Tigers (15-18, 8-11) against the host Yellow Jackets (19-11, 11-6).
H-SC scored four runs on 12 hits with two errors … scoring the four runs in the sixth inning. RMC scored five runs on 13 hits with two errors … scoring three runs in the second inning and one run each in the ninth and 11th.
In the sixth, senior first baseman and team captain 
Grayson Harris (Moseley) (1-5) walked to begin the at-bat, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and moved to third on an infield single by senior left fielder 
Christian Chambers (Midlothian) (1-4). Chambers stole second base and the bases were loaded with no outs after Sanford (3-4) drew another walk. Harris scored when sophomore third baseman 
Jase Howell (Portsmouth) (RBI) reached on a fielder's choice with Chambers advancing to third, and Chambers crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly RBI to left field by senior shortstop 
Jaxon Masterson (Raleigh, NC) (RBI). Freshman second baseman 
Sam Vick (Capron) (1-5) then reached on a bunt single that moved Howell to second, and both runners advanced a base on another wild pitch. Leonard (1-5, 2 RBIs) followed with a clutch two-run single up the middle with two outs that scored both Howell and Vick for a 4-3 lead.
Unfortunately, RMC scored the tying run in the bottom of the ninth inning with two outs, and scored the game-winning run in the 11th inning.
Freshman left-hander 
Bobby Holihan (Yorktown) started on the mound for the Garnet & Grey and pitched the first 3.1 innings, allowing five hits and three runs, one earned, with one strikeout and two walks. Junior right-hander and team captain 
Alex Fitz-Hugh (Chesterfield) followed with a career-high 6.2 innings of solid relief, scattering five hits and one run, earned, with four strikeouts and no walks. Emhoff (0-2) recorded one out, yielding three hits and one run, earned, with no strikeouts and no walks.
