Brady Wilson (Virginia Beach) started and took the pitching setback for the host Tigers (12-13, 6-7) against the visiting Yellow Jackets (14-8, 9-4).
H-SC scored three runs on four hits with two errors … scoring the three runs in the ninth inning to avoid the shutout. RMC scored 10 runs on eight hits with one error … scoring two runs in the second inning, three runs each in the third and sixth innings, and two runs in the ninth.
In the ninth, Harris (2-4) reached on a fielding error to begin the at-bat, advanced to second when senior left fielder and team captain
Christian Lancaster (Danville) walked, and the bases were loaded with no outs after junior designated hitter
Matthew Arnold (Danville) (1-3) walked, as well. Harris scored on a ground ball RBI off the bat of Howell (RBI), advancing Lancaster and freshman pinch-runner
Jack Wells (Southerland) to third and second, respectively. Following the second out, senior pinch-hitter
Christian Chambers (Midlothian) drew another walk with Lancaster scoring on the ball four wild pitch, advancing Wells to third. Junior pinch-hitter
Greer Farr (Southern Shores, NC) drew yet another walk to load the bases again … and Wells crossed the plate similar to Lancaster on the ball four wild pitch to provide for the final margin. Junior center field and team captain
Jack Wilson (Petersburg) (1-3) had the other hit for the Garnet & Grey.
Wilson (0-3) started on the mound for the Tigers and pitched the first 2.2 innings, allowing six hits and five runs, four earned, with three strikeouts and one walk. He did strike out two of the first three batters he faced, including the leadoff batter on three consecutive called strikes. Junior right-hander and team captain
Alex Fitz-Hugh (Chesterfield) followed with 4.1 innings, yielding no hits and three runs, all unearned, with four strikeouts and four walks. Junior right-hander
Jacob Williams (Chesapeake) tossed 1.2 inning, allowing two hits and two runs, both earned, with two strikeouts and no walks. Sophomore right-hander
Logan Benton (North Chesterfield) recorded the final two outs, allowing no hits and no runs with no strikeouts and no walks.
