Patrick Hanes (Raleigh, NC) scored one goal and added three assists and freshman
Cole Palmer (Atlanta, GA) scored two goals, but Hampden-Sydney College fell to nationally ranked No. 10 Washington and Lee University 20-6 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) clash Saturday afternoon.
The Generals opened the scoring in the first quarter at the 11:34 mark and doubled their lead two minutes and 34 seconds later to take a 2-0 lead. The Tigers responded with their first of the afternoon as

Kavin Wood (Cary, NC) to halve the lead. Washington and Lee got one back one minute and six seconds later before freshman
Nick Winchell (Wilmington, DE) scored off a Hanes feed at the 3:14 mark. The Generals got one more before the end of the quarter so H-SC trailed 4-2 after 15 minutes.
The Generals got the scoring started for the second straight quarter, finding the back of the net just 44 seconds in. The Tigers responded though with two straight goals, the first coming three minutes and nine seconds later from sophomore
Cameron Van Lunen (Southern Shores, NC) off a Wood assist, and the second came from freshman
Broder Conley (Duluth, GA) off a Hanes feed at the 6:38 mark to cut the lead to one. Washington and Lee then rattled off three unanswered over the final 6:38 to make it 8-4 at halftime.
The third quarter belonged to the Generals, scoring seven unanswered as the Tigers could not find the back of the net and went into the fourth quarter down 15-4.
Washington and Lee kept their offense rolling in the fourth quarter, opening with a goal at the 12:18 mark. Hanes got his got his goal less than two minutes later with an individual effort. The Generals responded with three straight goals before
Cole Palmer got his second of the afternoon off an assist from Hanes. Washington and Lee added one more before the final whistle to defeat H-SC 20-6.
Cole Palmer was the leading scorer for H-SC with two goals, and Hanes scored one with three assists. Van Lunen, Conley, and Winchell each added a goal and Wood had two assists.

Tyler Steele (Pinehurst, NC) caused three turnovers and grabbed three ground balls, and senior
Conor Kifeather (Wyndmoor, PA) had two ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Will Palmer (Atlanta, GA) played 47 minutes making seven saves in the loss. Senior
Owen Hegadorn (Falls Church) played 5:31 and made one save, and senior
Conner McMullen (Puyallup, WA) played the final 7:29 making one save.
The Tigers will be back in action on Saturday, April 5, when they take on ODAC member Bridgewater College in a conference clash. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at the Stadium at Jopson Athletic Complex.
