The Tigers are 4-2 overall, 0-1 in the ODAC, following an 85-50 conference road setback at (2)Randolph-Macon College on Dec. 3 in Ashland. The Royals are 2-5 overall, 0-1 in the ODAC, after a 70-65 conference road loss at (13)Virginia Wesleyan University on Dec. 3. Head Coach Caleb Kimbrough
H-SC is led by the seventh-year head coach who took over the program on April 4, 2019. The former head coach at Huntingdon (AL) College from 2016-19, Kimbrough is the 19th head coach in the 116-year history of the storied Hampden-Sydney program. He is no stranger to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), having played four years at Guilford (NC) College and coached six years with the Quakers, and one year at Washington and Lee University. Kimbrough is 110-46 at the College, ranking sixth in program coaching wins, while his current winning percentage (.705) ranks second all-time. He is a two-time National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III District 6 Coach of the Year (2022-23, 2023-24), was the 2022-23 ODAC Men's Basketball Bob Johnson Coach of the Year and the 2024-25 D3hoops.com Region 6 Coach of the Year.

2025-26 Coaching Staff
Coach Kimbrough is aided this season by second-year associate head coach Bryson Gibson, also in his seventh year with the program, fourth-year assistant coach Carson Long, along with first-year assistant coach Zach Hinton.

Scouting the No. 8 Tigers
H-SC has been led by sophomore guards Santana Lynch (Dallas, TX), who is averaging 12.8 points (60% FGs) and 6.0 rebounds; Peter Moye (Charlotte, NC), who adds 11.8 points (55% FGs) and 4.0 rebounds with a team-best nine three-point field goals (41%); Tugg Bizzelle (Baltimore, MD), who averages 10.0 points and 3.5 rebounds with six three-pointers (50%); and Travis Stickney (Mount Pleasant, SC), who also averages 10.0 points, while adding 4.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists with eight three-pointers (35%). Senior guard Colin Radcliffe (Richlands, NC) contributes 8.5 points with six three-pointers (32%), and senior forward Shane Fernald (Charlotte, NC) adds 8.2 points and 5.3 rebounds. H-SC shoots 47% (158-335) from the field, including 35% (32-92) on three-pointers, and 61% (90-148) at the free throw line. The Tigers average 73.0 points, and yield 65.0 points, for a +8.0 scoring margin.

Scouting Eastern Mennonite
EMU is coached by eighth-year head coach Melvin Felix and has been led by junior guards Aaron Brooks, who is averaging 16.7 points (6 3FGs), 3.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists, and Isaiah Carr, who is averaging 11.9 points (7 3FGs) and 5.9 rebounds. The Royals shoot 44% (171-387) from the field, including 30% (44-147) on three-pointers, and 71% (78-110) at the line. EMU is scoring 66.3 points, and yielding 69.7 points, for a -3.7 scoring margin.

Series History
H-SC and EMU are playing for the 89th time as ODAC opponents since the 1976-77 season. The Tigers lead the conference series at 64-24, including six-straight wins, the most recent being a 95-78 home win last February 22 in Kirby Field House. H-SC also took a 75-44 road win last Feb. 1 in Harrisonburg, and has won each of its last three games at EMU.

Next Level
Santana Lynch has taken his game to the next level this season ... averaging 12.8 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.0 assists, while shooting 60% (29-48) from the field, including 17% (1-6) on three-point field goals, and 67% (18-27) at the free throw line. He has five double-figure scoring games, including a career-high 19 points vs. Pfeiffer (11/23). Lynch grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds vs. (RV)Keene State (11/8). Santana was limited to four games early last season before a season-ending injury in December.

Next Level 2.0
Peter Moye has also taken his game to another level this season ... averaging 11.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 0.3 assists, while shooting 55% (26-47) from the field, including 41% (9-22) on three-point field goals, and 83% (10-12) at the free throw line. He also has five double-figure scoring games, including a career-high 18 points vs. (7)UW-La Crosse (11/7)—making a career-high four three-pointers. Moye has equaled his career-high of five rebounds three times, most recent at (2)Randolph-Macon (12/3). Peter played in 23 games last season, averaging 4.5 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.4 assists.

Next Level 3.0
Tugg Bizzelle has taken his game to the next level this season, as well ... averaging 10.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists, while shooting 42% (23-55) from the field, including 50% (6-12) on three-point field goals, and 50% (8-16) at the free throw line. He has two double-figure scoring games, including a career-high 19 points at Salisbury (11/12)—making a career-high five three-pointers. Bizzelle also grabbed a career-high eight rebounds at Salisbury (11/12), and has equaled his season-high with four assists in each of the last three games. Tugg started three of 29 games last season, averaging 3.1 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists.

Mr. Consistency
Travis Stickney has been steady and consistent in his second year starting, averaging 10.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists, while shooting 37% (22-60) from the field, including 35% (8-23) on three-point field goals, and 73% (8-11) at the free throw line. He has three double-figure scoring games, including a season-high 15 points at (2)Randolph-Macon (12/3), and had a career-high seven steals vs. (7)UW-La Crosse (11/7). Travis started all 29 games last season, averaging 7.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

Next Level 4.0
Junior center Alex Cannon (Loganville, GA) is yet another Tiger who has taken his game to another level this season ... averaging 5.7 points and 6.7 rebounds with 15 blocks (2.5), while shooting 71% (15-21) from the field. He has posted career-highs of eight points vs. (7)UW-La Crosse (11/7) and 11 rebounds vs. Pfeiffer (11/23), along with a season-high four blocks vs. (7)UW-La Crosse. Alex played in 22 games last season, averaging 2.0 points and 3.0 rebounds with 11 blocks (0.5).

NCAA Division III Statistics (Top 25)
H-SC ranks ninth nationally in defensive rebounds (32.0), 13th in rebound margin (10.5), 15th in field goal percentage defense (37.5) and 20th in three-point field goal percentage defense (25.7). Alex Cannon ranks 15th in blocks per game (2.5) and 24th in blocks (15).

D3hoops.com Top 25 
H-SC is ranked No. 8 nationally in the week two D3hoops.com Top 25 (12/1). The Tigers, ranked 10th in week one, earned 401 points to move into the Top 10 for the first time this season. Trinity (CT) (5-0) is ranked No. 1 for the second-straight week with 624 points.

Scheduling Toughness
H-SC has five opponents on the schedule that are currently ranked among the D3hoops.com Top 25, including three among the Top Five: No. 2 Randolph-Macon, No. 3 UW-La Crosse and No. 5 Redlands. In addition to playing the Yellow Jackets tonight, the Tigers have already played then-No. 7 UW-La Crosse (L 77-75 OT), and are scheduled to play Redlands on Dec. 20. No. 13 Virginia Wesleyan and No. 14 Roanoke are also ranked, while Maryville is receiving votes.

All-Tournament Team (X2)
Santana Lynch was named Classic MVP and to the All-Classic Team for the second annual Charlie Cobb Classic on Dec. 20-21 ... averaging 16.0 points (13-20 FG, 1-1 3FG, 5-6 FT) and 5.5 rebounds with three steals and one assist during home wins past Mary Baldwin (71-40) and Pfeiffer (84-71). Alex Cannon was also named to the All-Classic Team ... averaging 5.5 points (4-7 FG, 3-6 FT) and 10.0 rebounds with five blocks, two assists and one steal.

The Team Three-Point Stat
H-SC has made at least one three-point field goal in 528 consecutive games, dating back to a 2005 home game vs. Emory & Henry (12/3, 0-1 3FGA). Ironically, the Tigers won that high-scoring contest ... 130-99 without making a three-pointer.

2025-26 Team Captain
Leading the Tigers is senior guard Grayson Schultz (Moseley), who is a second-year team member serving in the leadership role for the first time. He was a team manager during his first two years at the College, before joining the team for 2024-25. Grayson is the son of Glenn and Paige Schultz and is majoring in economics and business at the College.

ODAC Preseason Poll
H-SC was picked fourth in the 2025-26 ODAC Preseason Poll. The Tigers earned 96 points among the 12 conference schools. Randolph-Macon was picked first with 121 points and 11 first-place votes, while Virginia Wesleyan was chosen second with 104 points, followed by Roanoke in third with 103 points and the other first-place vote, H-SC (fourth, 96) and Lynchburg with 81 points to round-out the Top Five. The remainder of the poll includes Shenandoah (64), Guilford (58) and Washington and Lee (58), Averett (34), Bridgewater (33), Randolph (26) and Eastern Mennonite (14).

Program History
H-SC is competing in its 116th-year of basketball during 2025-26. The Tigers have an overall program record of 1,544-1,104 since beginning in 1908. H-SC has posted 64 winning seasons, 18 seasons with at least 20 wins, six seasons with at least 25 wins, has won a record 11 ODAC Tournament Championships.

NCAA Tournament History
H-SC has made 17 NCAA Tournament appearances since 1989, winning at least one game in 14 of the 17 years, while compiling an overall NCAA Tournament record of 27-18. The Tigers advanced to the Final Four in 1999, 2003 and 2024, and to the National Championship in 1999 and 2024. H-SC was National Runner-Up in 2024, falling to Trine (IN) 69-61, as well as in 1999, falling to UW-Platteville 76-75 in double-overtime. The Tigers fell to Gustavus Adolphus (MN) 79-68 in the 2003 National Semifinals. H-SC advanced to the Elite Eight in 1995, 1998, 1999, 2003 and 2024, while reaching the Sweet 16 in 1992, 1994, 1995, 1998, 1999, 2003, 2024 and 2025. The Tigers have hosted 24 NCAA Tournament games since 1992, compiling an impressive record of 19-5.

Former Tigers Are Division I Head Coaches
H-SC currently has two former basketball team members and graduates of the College that are serving as NCAA Division I head coaches. Russell Turner '92 is in his 16th year at UC Irvine and Ryan Odom '96 is in his first season at Virginia and his 10th season as a DI head coach (UMBC, Utah State, VCU). Through Dec. 3, Turner was 326-191 at UCI (5-4 this season) and Odom was 208-118 overall, including 7-1 this season at UVA, 52-21 in two years at VCU, 44-25 in two years at USU and 97-60 in five years at UMBC. Griff Aldrich '96 is in his first season as the associate head coach at UVA after serving as head coach at Longwood the past seven seasons where he was 127-100 overall. Additionally, Ryan Silverfield '03 was recently named the head football coach at Arkansas. Silverfield was 50-25 in six years at Memphis, including 8-4 this season.
