ASHLAND, Va. --
Sophomore guard Travis Stickney (Mount Pleasant, SC) scored a team-high 15 points, but (8)Hampden-Sydney College dropped an 85-50 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) basketball decision on the road at (2)Randolph-Macon College on Wednesday night in Ashland. Sophomore guard Peter Moye (Charlotte, NC) had 12 points for the visiting Tigers, who trailed 37-17 at halftime and never recovered against the host Yellow Jackets in the conference opener. H-SC dropped to 4-2 overall, 0-1 in the ODAC, while RMC improved to 5-0 overall, 1-0 in the ODAC—led by Jabril Robinson with a game-high 24 points and Ty Showalter with 13 points off the bench.

"We got outplayed in every aspect of the game tonight," said seventh-year head coach Caleb Kimbrough. "It's that simple. We weren't prepared mentally or physically. We missed an opportunity tonight."

H-SC, ranked eighth in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25, scored the first points of the game on a three-point field goal by Moye at 19:34, but second-ranked RMC responded with the next 11 points, including four from Robinson and a three-pointer by Showalter, to lead 11-3 with 14:55 on the clock. The Tigers got a free throw from senior forward Shane Fernald (Charlotte, NC) and a jumper from senior guard Colin Radcliffe (Richlands, NC) to make it 11-6 at 12:57, but the Yellow Jackets scored eight unanswered points—six by Robinson—to lead 19-6 at 9:38. A three-pointer by Radcliffe had the Garnet & Grey within 28-15 with 3:08 left in the half, but the home team closed the half on a 9-2 run to lead 37-17 at the intermission behind 15 first-half points from Robinson.

H-SC opened the second half with a basket by sophomore guard Santana Lynch (Dallas, TX), but RMC scored nine-straight points to lead 46-19 with 17:46 remaining. Back-to-back three-pointers by Stickney and Moye made it 46-25 at 16:16, but the Yellow Jackets used a 13-8 run to push the advantage to 59-33 with 9:31 on the clock. The Tigers tried to rally back and were within 63-43 after an offensive rebound basket by Moye at 7:16, and it was 65-45 following a jumper by Radcliffe at 6:47. RMC, however, outscored the visitors 20-5 over the final six-plus minutes toward the final margin.

Stickney led H-SC with his 15 points, including 3-7 three-pointers, adding four assists. Moye had his 12 points for the Tigers, including two three-pointers, along with five rebounds. Radcliffe finished with nine points off the bench. H-SC shot 33% (16-48) from the field, including 24% (6-25) on three-pointers, and 63% (12-19) at the free throw line.

Robinson led RMC with his game-high 24 points, adding a game-high four steals. Showalter had his 13 points off the bench for the Yellow Jackets, adding a game-high seven rebounds. Delani Hammonds finished with 11 points and a game-high five assists, while Liam Joyce and Theo Antinori each added 10 points. RMC shot 56% (36-64) from the field, including 29% (6-29) on three-pointers, and 100% (7-7) at the line.

H-SC remains on the road at ODAC opponent Eastern Mennonite University on Saturday afternoon, December 6, at 2 p.m. in Harrisonburg.
