HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College fell 1-0 to Bridgewater College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action on Saturday night at Hellmuth-Gibson Field.

The game marked senior day, which honored seniors

The first half did not see much offense until the Eagles caught the Tigers on the counterattack and were able to put the ball in the net to take a 1-0 lead. That held, as combined, the sides had three shots total in the first 45 minutes.

The offenses ramped up in the second half, taking five times as many shots as in the first half. Freshman goalie
Stig Larson (Richmond) made a few big one-on-one saves to keep the deficit at one. Unfortunately for H-SC, his counterpart was up to the challenge, with the Tigers having four shots saved in the final four minutes, to fall 1-0.

The Tigers held the edge in shots at 10-8, but Bridgewater had one more shot on target (6) than H-SC (5).

Larson made five saves in net for the Tigers, making one in the first half and four in the second.

H-SC will be back in action on Wednesday, October 29, when it closes out the regular season against rival Randolph-Macon College in ODAC action. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Hellmuth-Gibson Field.
