(RV)Hampden-Sydney Wins At Roanoke 2-0

SALEM, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College used two second-half goals to help propel it to a 2-0 road Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win against Roanoke College on Saturday evening at Donald J. Kerr Stadium.

The first half saw the teams feeling each other out, with both sides taking three shots and the Maroons being the only side the trouble the goalie, doing that once.

It took just six minutes and three seconds into the second half for the Tigers to jump on top, as off a free kick, junior Kaden Sawyer (Virginia Beach) put the ball back in the box and after bouncing around it hit a Maroons' defender and went into the back of the net. H-SC doubled its lead just over 25 minutes later, off a free kick, junior Tyler Petz (Cary, NC) put a ball in towards the right post that senior Michael Farmer (Virginia Beach) took first time for the goal. The Tigers held up the final 13:23, with freshman Stig Larson (Richmond) making two saves on three total shots to keep the Maroons off the board and secure a 2-0 win.

The Tigers had the advantage in shots (10-6), but both sides were even with three shots on target.

Larson earned his 10th win of the season in net, making three saves for his seventh shutout of the season.

The Tigers will be back in action on Wednesday, October 22, when they travel to Harrisonburg to take on Eastern Mennonite University in ODAC action. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the EMU Turf Field.
