H-SC is led by the sixth-year head coach who took over the program on April 4, 2019. The former head coach at Huntingdon (AL) College from 2016-19, Kimbrough is the 19th head coach in the 115-year history of the storied Hampden-Sydney program. He is no stranger to the ODAC, having played four years at Guilford and coached six years with the Quakers, and one year at Washington and Lee University. Kimbrough is 93-40 at the College, ranking seventh in program coaching wins, while his current winning percentage (.699) ranks second all-time. He is the back-to-back National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III District 6 Coach of the Year (2022-23, 2023-24), and was the 2022-23 ODAC Men's Basketball Bob Johnson Coach of the Year

GC is coached by 22nd-year head coach Tom Palombo and has been led by senior transfer guard Nick Farrar (16.9 points, 13 3FGs, 7.1 rebounds), junior guard Gabe Proctor (12.8 points, 29 3FGs, 5.5 rebounds) and graduate transfer guard/forward Chase Ellis (10.1 points). Farrar is a transfer from UNC Wilmington, while Ellis is a transfer from Berry (GA) College, where he was the 2022-23 Southern Athletic Association Player of the Year; he scored 17 points in an 83-64 loss to the Tigers at the Music City Classic on December 20, 2022 in Gallatin, Tennessee near Nashville. The Quakers shoot 45% (324-713) from the field, including 39% (108-277) on three-pointers, and 68% (131-193) at the line. GC is scoring 73.9 points, and yielding 66.3 points, for a +7.7 scoring margin.
Series History
H-SC and GC are playing for the 65th time since the Quakers joined the ODAC (1991-92). The Tigers have won 39 of the 64 games, including a
62-57 win in the NCAA Tournament National Semifinals last March 14, 2024 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. GC, however, had won four of five games prior to that, including an
80-71 home win on Dec. 2, 2023 in Greensboro, and a stunning
70-69 neutral-site win on February 25, 2023 in the ODAC Tournament Semifinals. H-SC is 4-5 against the Quakers under Coach Kimbrough, who played four years (2004-08) and coached six years (2010-16) at his alma mater—each of the other three wins were at home in Fleet Gym. The Garnet & Grey last won a regular season game in Ragan-Brown Field House on Jan. 21, 2017 (64-58), though H-SC did win a preseason exhibition contest (80-63) this past November 2, 2024 in Greensboro.

Colin Radcliffe. Brazil is serving in the leadership role for his third season, while Fernald and Radcliffe are each first-year captains. Adam is the son of Mark and Kristen Brazil and is majoring in English with minors in leadership in the public interest and rhetoric. Shane is the son of the late Jon Fernald and Cathy Smith and is majoring in English with a minor in rhetoric. Colin is the son of Ian and Sarah Radcliffe and is majoring in history.

He has eight double-figure scoring games, including one 20-point game—a season and career-high 21 points vs. Roanoke (12/4).

Colin Radcliffe and
Hamilton Campbell have been impact transfers to the program. Colin transferred from Division II Mount Olive (NC) and is averaging 10.3 points and 1.9 rebounds, while shooting 47% (40-86) from the field, including 43% (23-54) on three-pointers, and 80% (20-25) at the line. He scored a season and career-high 27 points at Swarthmore (PA) (11/9). Hamilton transferred from DII Lenoir-Rhyne (NC) and is averaging 7.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists, while shooting 34% (30-89) from the field, including 24% (10-42) on three-pointers, and 82% (22-27) at the line. He scored a season and career-high 22 points vs. Eastern (PA) (12/21).

1,527 wins. H-SC has posted 63 winning seasons, 17 seasons with at least 20 wins, six seasons with at least 25 wins, has won a record 11 ODAC Tournament Championships and has made 16 NCAA Tournament appearances.
