Hampden-Sydney Falls To Bridgewater 195-57

SWEET BRIAR, Va. -- Hampden Sydney College closed out the regular season with a 195-57 loss to Bridgewater College, Saturday afternoon at the Prothro Natatorium.

In the first event of the afternoon, the 200 Medley Relay, the foursome of seniors Matt Brooks (Springfield), Cody Carnes (Hartfield), and Quinn Hardimon (Alexandria), as well as sophomore Owen Renfrow (Bowling Green, KY) grabbed second place with a time of 1:54.25. In fourth in the event with a time of 2:12.14 was the foursome of senior Cole Renfrow (Bowling Green, KY), junior Jackson Piazza (Birmingham, AL), and sophomores Mason Brooking (Orange), and Ben Gerber (New Bern, NC).

The final relay event of the meet was the 400 Free Relay that saw the foursome of Carnes, Hardimon, sophomore Peter Gonzalez (Bakersfield, CA), and freshman Quinlan Ragsdale (Charlottesville) finish fourth with a time of 3:56.64. Finishing right behind in fifth with a time of 4:34.22 was the foursome of Gerber, Owen Renfrow, senior Charles Adams (Mechanicsville), and senior Carson Mann (Matthews, NC).

Hardimon was the only Tiger to compete in the first individual event of the meet, the 800 Free, taking second place with a time of 9:43.10.

Brooks was the top Tiger in the 200 Free grabbing fourth place with a time of 2:11.20. Adams was the next to finish in fifth with a time of 2:29.39, and Mann grabbed sixth with a time of 2:40.90.

In the 50 Backstroke, Hardimon was the leader for the Tigers after posting a time of 30.28 seconds to finish third. Gerber took a fifth-place finish with his time of 33.75 seconds and Piazza finished sixth with a time of 36.57 seconds.

Owen Renfrow was the leading Tiger in the 50 Breaststroke, posting a time of 34.19 seconds to finish third. Less than a second behind in fourth was Cole Renfrow with a time of 35.03 seconds, and Piazza grabbed fifth place with a time of 41.14 seconds.

Gonzalez nabbed a second-place finish in the 200 Fly after posting a time of 2:38.86. Taking third place was Adams with a time of 2:43.07.

Carnes took second place in the 50 Free, as his time of 25.28 seconds was less than a second off victory. Brooks finished with a time of 27.08 to finish fifth and Mann finished with a time of 31.28 to place sixth.

In the 100 Free, Brooks took home a second-place finish with a time of 57.94 seconds. Gonzalez finished in fourth with a time of 1:03.32, and Brooking finished with a time of 1:07.62 for fifth place.

H-SC had one swimmer in the 200 Back, as Hardimon placed second with a time of 2:25.31.

Cole Renfrow was the leader for the Tigers in the 200 Breaststroke, taking fourth place with a time of 3:10.81. Piazza took fifth place in the event with a time of 3:20.65.

Adams was the only Tiger competing in the 400 Free, taking a third-place finish with a time of 5:23.80.

In the 50 Fly, Carnes was the leader for H-SC posting a time of 27.15 seconds to finish third. Gerber finished the event with a time of 30.94 seconds to take fifth, and Brooking had a time of 33.61 seconds for sixth.

Owen Renfrow was the Tigers leader for the in the final individual event, the 200 IM, posting a time of 2:36.11 to place fourth. Gonzalez was the other Tiger in the event, finishing fifth with a time of 2:40.75.

The Tigers will be back in action for the opening day of the ODAC Swimming Championships on Wednesday, February 12. The Championships will run until the 15th and will take place at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
