Hampden-Sydney VA Playing on a beautiful day on the Johnny Ellis Rugby Pitch after three days of rain, the Hampden-Sydney Rugby Football Club fell to Christendom on Saturday 30-24 in a closely played match. The previous meeting between the schools three years ago resulted in a 64-0 win by a Crusaders team that would go on to win a national championship. "This was the best performance I have seen from the Tigers, and as we build for playoffs in November, we can keep our heads high", states Coach Seth Trujillo. The Tigers built an early lead with scores by Seniors Eli Strickland, Graeme Ebert, and Bruton Peacock. Graeme Ebert added two conversions to give H-SC a 19-7 halftime edge. Although Junior Jacob Foster added a try after the break, Christendom was able to outscore H-SC in the second half to secure the win. The Ruggers' challenging schedule continues next week on Family and Friends Weekend as the Tigers host the University of Virginia, ranked #16  in Rugby's Division 2A, with game time at 1 pm.
