ODAC WEEKLY REPORT
HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College sophomore wide receiver
Ethan Dowdy (Powhatan) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC)
Football Offensive Player of the Week, and senior placekicker
Elijah Swett (Matthews, NC) has been named the
Special Teams Player of the Week, for games played September 21. The pair were selected for their respective outstanding efforts during a 38-34 non-conference home win past Centre (KY) College on Fulton Field at Lewis C. Everett Stadium.
Â
Ethan Dowdy had career-highs of nine receptions, 101 yards receiving and four receiving touchdowns—tying the school record for single-game receiving touchdowns during the victory. The second-year standout had touchdown receptions of 15 yards in the second quarter, 28 and 16 yards, respectively, in the third quarter and another 15-yard scoring catch in the fourth quarter—the latter proving to be the game-winner—each from junior quarterback and team captain
Carter Sido (Dallas, TX), who passed for career-highs of 264 yards and five touchdowns. Dowdy tied the program record previously established by
Drew Smith (vs. Guilford, 2004) and
Kyle Vance (vs. NC Wesleyan, 2011). It ties the ODAC record, as well, accomplished nine times previously, the most recent in 2016.
Â
Through three games, Ethan leads the ODAC in receptions (18), receiving touchdowns (6), overall scoring (36 points) and overall touchdowns, and is second in receiving yards (219) and receptions per game (6.0), and third in receiving yards per game (73.0).

Elijah Swett connected on his first field goal of the season against the Colonels, making a 37-yard kick for the first points of the contest in the first quarter. He added 5-5 PAT kicks to the triumph, as well, and averaged 59.1 yards (six-yard line) on seven kickoffs with one touchback. Through three games, Elijah is tied for third in the ODAC in field goals (1) and is fourth in kick scoring (16 points). Swett is a perfect 13-13 on PAT kicks this season, and 1-2 on field goals, while averaging 60.3 yards (five-yard line) on 19 kickoffs with two touchbacks.
H-SC has a bye weekend upcoming and will play at home again in two weeks during Family Weekend at the College, hosting ODAC member Guilford (NC) College on Saturday, October 5, at 1 p.m. at Everett Stadium.
