Hampden-Sydney Falls To Rhodes (TN) 4-0

RICHMOND, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College fell in the first of two games in the Preston Hirten Memorial Classic against Rhodes (TN) College 4-0, Friday night at City Stadium in Richmond.

Rhodes took advantage of its chances in the first half, scoring three times in the 17th minute, 26th minute, and 38th minute to take a 3-0 lead into halftime. While H-SC led the first half in shots with five, the Lynx only needed three shots to score three goals.

The Lynx added one more goal in the second half, scoring in the 63 minute to push their lead to four. The 4-0 scoreline held up as H-SC could not finish any of their chances and fall to the Lynx.

H-SC had the edge in shots at 8 to the Lynx's six but only had two shots on target compared to five for the Lynx.

Senior Wills Huddleston (Baldwin, MD) made one save on five shots on target in the loss. Freshman Thomas Word (Richmond) saw his first career game action playing the final 8:19.

The Tigers will be back in action on Sunday, September 15 when they take on the University of Mount Union (OH) in the second game of the Preston Hirten Memorial Classic. Kick-off is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at City Stadium in Richmond.
