Hampden-Sydney Earns A 3-1 Win At Marymount

ARLINGTON, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College scored three unanswered goals from three different goalscorers to take a 3-1 non-conference victory at Marymount University on Sunday afternoon at Long Bridge Park in Arlington.

The Saints struck first in the 10th minute to take an early lead in the game. H-SC equalized in the 27th minute as the goalie passed the ball right into the path of sophomore Mo Wumpini (Chattanooga, TN), who struck the shot from 30 yards into the empty net. The Tigers grabbed the lead just under 10 minutes later as a ball was played over the top and onto the run of junior Walker Stebbings (Forest) and put into the bottom left corner to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead going into halftime.

The Tigers scored the only goal of the second half, as junior Pierce Boerner (Midlothian) took a penalty and shot it into the roof of the net, making the final 3-1.

H-SC had the advantage throughout, taking 19 shots and putting 10 on target, against 11 shots and four on target for the Saints.

Senior goalie Wills Huddleston (Baldwin, MD) gained his second win of the season, making three saves in the game.

The Tigers will be back in action on Friday, September 6, when they travel to take on the Scots of Covenant (GA) College. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Scotland Yard in Lookout Mountain, Georgia.
