Hampden-Sydney, VA After heavy overnight rains drenched Johnny Ellis Field, the sun returned in time for a big day of Rugby 15's. The Tigers opened the day hosting the H-SC Rugby Alumni in a competitive match. While the 32-0 final score may indicate a decisive victory for team garnet, the match was closely contested throughout. Following a short break the Tigers then met the Washington and Lee Generals in a rare spring 15's Friendly. A muddy field did not diminish the quality of a well-played game by both sides. W&L opened the scoring with a try and a failed conversion to set the early score at 5-0. Jacob Foster then quickly tied the game for the Tigers. After a failed conversion both teams competed in a close back-and-forth match resulting in a 5-5 score at half.. The start of the second half showed the Generals taking charge early with two tries and one conversion to build their lead to 17-5. As the game drew toward its conclusion two electric scores late by
Elias Turney and
Jackson Cofer brought the score to 17-15 with no time left on the clock.
Graeme Ebert then made the conversion kick on a windy day and muddy field to tie the game in a 17-17 draw.
