D3hoops.com Top 25, plays Ferrum College in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament on Thursday night, February 22, at 6 p.m. at the Salem Civic Center in Salem. NCAA Division III's top-ranked Tigers are the #2 seed for the tournament and 23-2 overall following a 70-59 non-conference home win past the University of Mary Washington on Feb. 17 in S. Douglas Fleet Gymnasium at Kirby Field House. The Panthers are the #10 seed and 16-10 overall after a 76-67 road win at Bridgewater College in the first round of the ODAC Tournament on Feb. 19. Head Coach Caleb Kimbrough
H-SC is led by the fifth-year head coach who took over the program on April 4, 2019. The former head coach at Huntingdon (AL) College from 2016-19, Kimbrough is the 19th head coach in the 114-year history of the storied Hampden-Sydney program. He is no stranger to the ODAC, having played four years at Guilford (NC) College and coached six years with the Quakers, and one year at Washington and Lee. Kimbrough is 75-37 overall at the College, including 45-23 in ODAC games. Scouting No. 1 Hampden-Sydney
H-SC completed the regular season with four-straight wins and 18 wins in its last 19 games overall. The Tigers are enjoying their finest season in 21 years, when the program was 24-1 through 25 games in 2002-03. The 23 overall wins are the most under Coach Kimbrough, and the 14 conference wins equal that of last season, also the most under Kimbrough. In addition, H-SC has attained its 17th 20-win season in program history, and second consecutive 20-win campaign, marking the first time since 2002-03 (28-4) and 2003-04 (25-5) with back-to-back 20-win seasons. The Tigers returned to the No. 1 national ranking in this week's D3hoops.com Top 25 — the sixth week this season at No. 1, while the Garnet & Grey have now been ranked among the Top Five for nine of 11 weeks during 2023-24. H-SC is also ranked No. 1 among the latest NCAA Division III Top 16 and Region VI Rankings. The Tigers are shooting 46% (699-1512) from the field, including 37% (201-541) on three-point field goals (8.0 per game), and 73% (251-345) at the free throw line. H-SC has averaged 74.0 points, and allowed only 57.9 points, for a +16.1 scoring margin.

The Panthers are coached by second-year head coach
Patrick Corrigan '13, a former four-year team member of the Tigers and team captain when H-SC finished 23-5 and played in NCAA Tournament (2012-13). Patrick's father,
David Corrigan '79, was a three-year letterman for the Tigers (1976-79). FC has been led by juniors Jikari Johnson (17.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 61 3FGs) and Bryant Wall (11.8 points, 7.0 rebounds), and sophomore Alfredo Abel-Rivera (10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds). The Panthers shoot 47% (761-1637) from the field, including 34% (151-446) on three-pointers (5.8 per game), and 68% (314-462) at the line; scoring 76.4 points, and yielding 65.2 points, for a +11.2 scoring margin.

H-SC leads the overall series between the two schools at 11-3, including four-straight wins, and five wins in the last six games played. The Tigers defeated the Panthers

Davidson Hubbard scored a game-high 20 points, adding 11 rebounds, to lead H-SC to a
60-52 ODAC road win.
Ryan Clements finished with 16 points, including 5-6 late free throws, for the visiting Tigers. H-SC led 31-26 at halftime, and secured the hard-fought win with 7-8 free throws over the final 2:38, including Clements' 5-6. Bryant Wall led FC with 13 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
2023-24 All-ODAC Honors
Davidson Hubbard and
Adam Brazil were each named First Team All-ODAC, while
Ryan Clements was named Third Team All-ODAC, as announced on Feb. 21. Clements has been named All-ODAC for the third time—also Third Team in 2022-23 and Second Team in 2021-22, while Hubbard and Brazil have been named All-ODAC for the second time—Hubbard was also First Team in 2022-23, and Brazil was Second Team last year.
2023-24 ODAC Scholar-Athlete Award
Adam Brazil garnered ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors from the league's athletic communications personnel. Adam is an English major and Dean's List student with a 3.81 GPA, while a three-time member of the ODAC All-Academic Team (2021-23).
100 Collegiate Coaching Wins
Caleb Kimbrough won his 100th game as a collegiate head coach with a
71-47 road win at VWU on Feb. 14. Coach Kimbrough is currently 101-77 in eight years, including 75-37 in five years at H-SC.
NCAA Top 16 / Region VI Rankings
H-SC was ranked first among the
NCAA Division III Top 16, announced on Feb. 15. The Tigers remained first in
Region VI of the NCAA Regional Rankings, released on Feb. 20. Selection Monday is Feb. 26.

The Team Three-Point Stat
H-SC has made at least one three-point field goal in
485 consecutive games, dating back to a home game vs. Emory & Henry on Dec. 3, 2005 (0-1 3FGA). Ironically, the Tigers won that high-scoring contest 130-99. H-SC made a season-high 17 three-pointers vs. Rose-Hulman (IN) on Nov. 18 (17-36 3FGA), one of four games this season with 10-plus three-pointers.
Double-Double Man
Davidson Hubbard has posted five double-doubles this season, and 22 during his four years at H-SC. He had a massive 16-point, 16-rebound game during a
72-63 neutral-site win past (RV)Widener (PA) at the Al Van Wie/Wooster Rotary Classic on Nov. 17 in Wooster, Ohio ... along with a 20-point, 11-rebound effort during a
60-52 road win at Ferrum on Jan. 3. Hubbard has been close to three more double-doubles with either nine rebounds or nine points, along with double-digits in the other, including a huge 31-point, nine-rebound game during an
85-67 road win at No. 1 John Carroll on Dec. 19 in University Heights, Ohio.

Program History
H-SC is competing in its 114th-year of basketball during 2023-24. The Tigers began this season with an overall record of 1486-1093 since beginning in 1908, and currently are 1509-1095. H-SC has posted 63 winning seasons (this season included), 17 seasons with at least 20 wins (this season included), and has won 10 ODAC Tournament Championships and made 15 NCAA Division III Tournament appearances. The Tigers have advanced to the Final Four two times previously, and to the National Championship once.
ODAC Tournament History
H-SC is 60-35 all-time in ODAC Tournament games. The Tigers have played in a record 15 ODAC Tournament Championship games, winning 10 ODAC Tournament Titles (tied for most with Roanoke). The 60 tournament wins are the most of any school. H-SC last won a conference tournament championship in 2007, defeating Roanoke 77-62. The Tigers last played in the title contest in 2014, falling to Virginia Wesleyan 77-74. H-SC won eight ODAC Tournament Championships from 1989-2002.

Miles is the son of Randy Harris and Corey Bacs and is majoring in economics and business. Adam is the son of Mark and Kristen Brazil and is majoring in English. Josiah is the son of Vernal Hardy and Felicia Miller and is majoring in economics and business.

H-SC currently has three former basketball team members and graduates of the College that are serving as NCAA Division I head coaches.
Russell Turner '92 is in his 14th year at UC Irvine ...
Ryan Odom '96 is in his first season at VCU and his eighth season as a DI head coach (UMBC, Utah State) ...
Griff Aldrich '96 is in his sixth year at Longwood. Entering this season, Turner was 265-170 at UCI ... Odom was 141-85 overall, including 44-25 in two years at USU and 97-60 in five years at UMBC ... Aldrich was 88-72 at Longwood.
