Head Coach Caleb Kimbrough
H-SC is led by the sixth-year head coach who took over the program on April 4, 2019. The former head coach at Huntingdon (AL) College from 2016-19, Kimbrough is the 19th head coach in the 115-year history of the storied Hampden-Sydney program. He is no stranger to the ODAC, having played four years at Guilford (NC) College and coached six years with the Quakers, and one year at Washington and Lee University. Kimbrough is 90-39 at the College, ranking seventh in program coaching wins, while his current winning percentage (.696) ranks second all-time. He is the back-to-back National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III District 6 Coach of the Year (2022-23, 2023-24), and was the 2022-23 ODAC Men's Basketball Bob Johnson Coach of the Year

SU is coached by third-year head coach Nick Doyle and has been led by junior guard Joshua Stephen, who is averaging 14.1 points (12 3FGs), 4.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.9 steals, junior guard Dorian Davis, who is also averaging 13.7 points and 3.8 rebounds, and sophomore forward Joseph Baldwin, who contributes 11.9 points and 8.1 rebounds. The Hornets shoot 44% (248-560) from the field, including 32% (72-225) on three-pointers, and 66% (91-139) at the line. SU is scoring 73.2 points, and yielding 70.1 points, for a +3.1 scoring margin.
Series History
H-SC leads the all-time series, 20-4, including 14-3 in ODAC regular season games. The Tigers have won 10-straight against the Hornets, and 11 of the last 12 games in the series, including the lone game last season:
69-52 on January 20, 2024 in Winchester. The two schools first met in the 1989 NCAA South Atlantic Regional in Ewing, New Jersey, an 80-78 win by the Garnet & Grey.

Colin Radcliffe. Brazil is serving in the leadership role for his third season, while Fernald and Radcliffe are each first-year captains. Adam is the son of Mark and Kristen Brazil and is majoring in English with minors in leadership in the public interest and rhetoric. Shane is the son of the late Jon Fernald and Cathy Smith and is majoring in English with a minor in rhetoric. Colin is the son of Ian and Sarah Radcliffe and is majoring in history.

Adam Brazil has taken his game to another level this season ... averaging 23.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 32.7 minutes, while shooting 53% (64-121) from the field, including 31% (13-42) on three-pointers, and 90% (47-52) at the line—making 24 consecutive free throws over the past four games. He has seven double-figure scoring games, including three 30-point games among six 20-point games, and scored a career-high 34 points vs. RMC on Nov. 13.
Picking Up Where He Left Off
Shane Fernald has began this season as he finished last season ... playing at a high level ... averaging 13.8 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 22.8 minutes, while shooting 56% (45-81) from the field. He has seven double-figure scoring games, including one 20-point game—a career-high 21 points vs. Roanoke on Dec. 4.
Impact Transfers
Colin Radcliffe and
Hamilton Campbell have been impact transfers to the program. Colin transferred from Division II Mount Olive (NC) and is averaging 11.1 points in 20.2 minutes off the bench, while shooting 59% (29-49) from the field, including 63% (17-27) on three-pointers, and 82% (14-17) at the line. He scored a career-high 27 points at Swarthmore on Nov. 9. Hamilton transferred from DII Lenoir-Rhyne (NC) and is averaging 6.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 15.4 minutes off the bench, while shooting 77% (17-22) at the line. He scored a career-high 16 points at RMC on Dec. 7.

Adam Brazil is 20th in program history with 1,246 career points in 101 career games. He adds 314 career assists, 115 career steals and 203 career three-pointers. Russell Turner '92—the current head at NCAA Division I UC Irvine—is the all-time scoring leader with 2,272 career points.

D3hoops.com Top 25. The Tigers, ranked 23rd in the preseason poll, 13th in week one and 12th in week two, earned 413 points in the latest rankings (12/9). Emory (GA) University (8-0) is ranked first with 607 points, including 14 first-place votes. ODAC member Guilford (NC) (64 points) is ranked 25th, while ODAC schools Ferrum (11), Randolph-Macon (5) and Roanoke (5) are each receiving votes in the poll.

Program History
H-SC is competing in its 115th-year of basketball during 2024-25. The Tigers began this season with an overall program record of 1,517-1,096 since beginning in 1908, and currently total
1,524 wins. H-SC has posted 63 winning seasons, 17 seasons with at least 20 wins, six seasons with at least 25 wins, has won a record 11 ODAC Tournament Championships and has made 16 NCAA Tournament appearances.
