The Tigers will play Pfeiffer (NC) University on Friday, Nov. 22, at 7:30 p.m., and either (RV)Gettysburg (PA) College or No. 20 Maryville (TN) College on Saturday, Nov. 22, at either 2:00 p.m. or 4:00 p.m. Gettysburg and Maryville play on Friday, Nov. 22, at 5:30 p.m. The two H-SC games can be heard locally on WVHL Radio, Kickin' Country 92.9 FM, and will also be available worldwide on the Internet at

Head Coach Caleb Kimbrough
H-SC is led by the sixth-year head coach who took over the program on April 4, 2019. The former head coach at Huntingdon (AL) College from 2016-19, Kimbrough is the 19th head coach in the 115-year history of the storied Hampden-Sydney program. He is no stranger to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), having played four years at Guilford (NC) College and coached six years with the Quakers, and one year at Washington and Lee University. Kimbrough is 86-38 at the College, ranking seventh in program coaching wins, while his current winning percentage (.694) ranks second all-time. He is the back-to-back National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III District 6 Coach of the Year (2022-23, 2023-24), and was the 2022-23 ODAC Men's Basketball Bob Johnson Coach of the Year

Adam is the son of Mark and Kristen Brazil and is majoring in English with minors in leadership in the public interest and rhetoric. Shane is the son of the late Jon Fernald and Cathy Smith and is majoring in English with a minor in rhetoric. Colin is the son of Ian and Sarah Radcliffe and is majoring in history.

Scouting Pfeiffer (2-1)
The Falcons are coached by seventh-year head coach Pete Schoch. Pfeiffer has been led through three games by senior guards Daymon Beckwith (17.0 points, 9 3FGs, 2.3 assists) and Alex Cunningham (10.3 points, 86% FTs). The Falcons shoot 43% (77-180) from the field, including 36% (25-71) on three-pointers, and 67% (45-67) at the line; scoring 74.7 points, and yielding 74.7 points (0.0).

Pfeiffer has a 1-0 advantage in the series, defeating H-SC 108-99 on Nov. 17, 2019 during the Wayne Proffitt Classic in Lynchburg. The Falcons transitioned to NCAA Division III for 2017-18 after previously competing as members of Division II and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Pfeiffer advanced to the NAIA Final Four in 1991, 1992 and 1995, finishing as National Runner-Up in 1995.

The Bullets are coached by seventh-year head coach B.J. Dunne. Gettysburg has been led through five games by junior guard/forward Nate Williams (13.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists), along with senior guards Carl Schaller (13.2 points, 8 3FGs, 2.2 assists) and Jordan Stafford (13.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 68% FGs). The Bullets shoot 45% (140-310) from the field, including 29% (32-110) on three-pointers, and 54% (57-106) at the line; scoring 73.8 points, and yielding 65.6 points (+8.2).

The Scots are coached by sixth-year head coach Raul Placeres. Maryville has been led through five games by senior guard Reed Kemp (22.8 points, 14 3FGs, 87% FTs), junior guard Jackson Garner (15.0 points, 7 3FGs, 88% FTs) and junior forward Chase Morgan (15.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, 7 blocks). The Scots shoot 41% (134-327) from the field, including 25% (29-114) on three-pointers, and 72% (69-96) at the line; scoring 73.2 points, and yielding 77.4 points (-4.2).
Series History
Maryville has a 14-7 advantage in the series, winning three-straight and 12 of the last 14 games between the two programs, most recently defeating H-SC 85-84 on December 19, 2021 during the H-SC Classic in Fleet Gym—scoring the game-winning basket with 3.7-seconds on the clock. The Scots were members of the ODAC from 1980-87, winning the ODAC Tournament Championship in 1985. Maryville has made 20 NCAA Tournament appearances.
ODAC Preseason Poll
H-SC was picked third in the
2024-25 ODAC Preseason Poll. The Tigers earned 123 points, including two first-place votes, among the 13 conference schools. Randolph-Macon was picked first with 137 points and seven first-place votes, while Guilford was chosen second with 129 points and two first-place votes, as well. H-SC was followed closely by Virginia Wesleyan in fourth with 120 points and the other two first-place votes, along with Roanoke (97), Washington and Lee (78), Shenandoah (73), Ferrum (69), Bridgewater (67), Lynchburg (52), Randolph (29), Averett (26) and Eastern Mennonite (14).

D3hoops.com Preseason Top 25, including No. 3 John Carroll (OH), No. 5 CNU, No. 7 RMC and No. 17 Guilford. Swarthmore is receiving votes in the poll, while two opponents participating in the Hampden-Sydney Tip-Off Tournament sponsored by Elder, Watkins, Friedman & Allen, P.C. are also in the preseason poll—No. 20 Maryville (TN) and Gettysburg (PA), who is receiving votes, as well. JCU, CNU, RMC, GC, Swarthmore, Eastern (PA) and Virginia Wesleyan each participated in the NCAA Tournament a year ago. Maryville won the Collegiate Conference of the South Championship, but did not play in NCAA Tournament.

H-SC is competing in its 115th-year of basketball during 2024-25. The Tigers began this season with an overall program record of 1,517-1,096 since beginning in 1908, and currently total
1,520 wins. H-SC has posted 63 winning seasons, 17 seasons with at least 20 wins, six seasons with at least 25 wins, has won a record 11 ODAC Tournament Championships and has made 16 NCAA Tournament appearances.
NCAA Tournament History
H-SC has made 16 NCAA Tournament appearances since 1989, winning at least one game in 13 of the 16 years, while compiling an overall NCAA Tournament record of 25-17. The Tigers advanced to the Final Four in 1999, 2003 and 2024, and to the National Championship in 1999 and 2024. The Garnet & Grey were also National Runner-Up in 1999, falling to UW-Platteville 76-75 in double-overtime in the National Championship contest, and fell to Gustavus Adolphus (MN) 79-68 in the 2003 National Semifinals, before falling to Wooster (OH) 78-74 in the third-place game. H-SC also advanced to the Elite Eight in 1995, while reaching the Sweet 16 in 1992, 1994 and 1998. The Tigers have hosted 22 NCAA Tournament games since 1992, compiling an impressive record of 17-5.

Griff Aldrich '96 is in his seventh year at Longwood. Through Nov. 20, Turner was 293-180 at UCI (4-0 this season) ... Odom was 187-111 overall, including 28-14 at VCU (4-0 this season), 44-25 in two years at USU and 97-60 in five years at UMBC ... Aldrich was 114-86 at Longwood (5-0 this season).
