LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College took a 195-18 victory over Gallaudet (DC) University, but fell 144-113 in its first Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) meet against Randolph College, on Saturday afternoon at the Bateman Aquatic Center.
H-SC took a second and a third-place finish in the first relay of the afternoon, the 200 Yard Medley Relay, with the foursome of seniors
Matt Brooks (Springfield),
Cody Carnes (Hartfield), sophomore
Owen Renfrow (Bowling Green, KY), and freshman
Quinlan Ragsdale (Charlottesville) finishing second with a time of 1:43.95. Finishing third with a time of 1:51.07 was the foursome of seniors

Brandon Hyde (Thousand Oaks, CA), and sophomore
Peter Gonzalez (Bakersfield, CA).
In the second and final relay of the afternoon, the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, the Tigers took the top spot as the foursome of
Cole Renfrow, and sophomores
Ben Gerber (New Bern, NC), Ronan Self (Bowling Green), and
Mason Brooking (Orange), completed the event with a time of 1:44.92, 10 seconds faster than anyone else.
In the first solo event of the afternoon, it was Hardimon who took victory in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:04.80. Finishing fourth in the event was Gerber who posted a time of 12:59.84.
Carnes made it two straight wins for the Tigers, as his time of 1:52.47 was good enough to take the 200 Yard Freestyle. Brooks made it two in the top three as his 1:58.61 time was good for third place.
Ragsdale made it three straight event wins by picking up his first event win of his career in the 50 Yard Backstroke with a time of 26.33 seconds. Junior
Jackson Piazza (Birmingham, AL) took a fourth-place finish in the event after posting a time of 31.43 seconds.
H-SC took second, third, and fourth in the 50 Yard Breaststroke, as
Owen Renfrow was the top finisher with a time of 29.84 seconds. He was followed by his brother
Cole Renfrow who posted a 30.42 second time and Piazza's 36.35 second time.
Carnes was the top finisher for the Tigers in the 100 Yard Butterfly, as his time of 59.44 seconds was good for second place. In third place was Gonzalez, who posted a time of 1:01.87.
Brooking was the first of two finishers in the 50 Yard Freestyle, posting a time of 26.15 seconds to take third place. In fourth place in the event was freshman
Quest Hennings (Cullen), after posting a time of 27.71 seconds.
In the 100 Yard Freestyle, Ragsdale touched the wall first to finish second in the event, posting a time of 51.27 seconds. Right behind him was Brooks in third with a time of 52.45, and Piazza in fifth with a time of 1:03.26.
Hyde took the victory in the 100 Yard Backstroke, taking the top spot with a time of 1:00.95. Ragsdale grabbed third in the event with his time of 1:03.81.
In the 100 Yard Breaststroke,
Owen Renfrow topped his brother Cole in the event, with Owen finishing second with a time of 1:07.41, and Cole finishing third with a time of 1:08.39.
Gonzalez was the first of two finishers in the 500 Yard Freestyle, taking second with a time of 5:54.39. Finishing third in the event was Hyde with his time of 6:00.85.
Gerber took a third-place finish in the 50 Yard Butterfly, grabbing the place with a time of 26.60 seconds. Finishing fourth in the event was Self with a time of 27.23 seconds, and placing fifth was Brooking with a time of 29.59 seconds.
In the final solo event of the afternoon,
Owen Renfrow's time of 2:21.27 in the 200 Yard IM was good for second place. In fourth place was Self who posted a time of 2:34.93.
The Tigers will be back in action on Friday, October 18, when they travel to take on Southern Virginia University. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
