HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Junior Pierce Boerner (Midlothian) scored the game's only goal as Hampden-Sydney College took a 1-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory over Bridgewater College, Saturday evening at the Bridgewater Soccer Complex.

The Tigers got the scoring started as sophomore Mo Wumpini (Chattanooga, TN) laid the ball off to Boerner for a left-footed finish to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.

The game did not see another goal in the second half, as the Tigers' defense held strong for a third straight conference shutout.

The Tigers had the advantage offensively, taking 18 shots compared to eight for the Eagles, and put seven of those shots on target versus two on target for Bridgewater.

Senior Wills Huddleston (Baldwin, MD) made two saves to earn his second straight 90-minute shutout.

The Tigers will return home on Wednesday, October 16, when they host Eastern Mennonite University in ODAC action. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Hellmuth-Gibson Field.
