Hampden-Sydney Battles To A 0-0 Draw With Eastern Mennonite

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College held a strong offensive advantage but was held to a 0-0 draw in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action against Eastern Mennonite University, Wednesday night at Hellmuth-Gibson Field.

The Tigers were on the attack early and often in the first half, taking 10 shots while the Royals only took two in the first 45 minutes. Neither side could find a goal, however, as both goalies made stops to keep the game scoreless going into halftime.

H-SC kept the pressure on in the second half, but the Royals were up to the task defensively, making five saves in the second half to keep the game scoreless after 90 minutes.

The Tigers had the advantage offensively, taking 21 shots to six for Eastern Mennonite while putting seven on target in comparison to two for the Royals. H-SC also had a 10 to two advantage in corner kicks.

Senior goalie Wills Huddleston (Baldwin, MD) made two saves to earn the shutout.

The Tigers will be back in action on Saturday, October 19, when they travel to Lynchburg to take on Randolph College in ODAC play. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at WildCat Stadium.
