HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College has moved up to No. 1 nationally in the week four
D3hoops.com Top 25, released today. It's the first time the Tigers have been ranked first in the national poll since January 12, 2004 (week seven). The Garnet & Grey earned 600 points in this week's poll, including 13 first-place votes. H-SC is 10-1 overall, 2-1 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). The Tigers own an 85-67 road win at then-No. 1 John Carroll University on December 19 in University Heights, Ohio, as well as a 74-53 home win past defending NCAA Division III National Champion and preseason No. 1 Christopher Newport University on November 8 in S. Douglas Fleet Gymnasium at Kirby Field House.
H-SC is ranked first with its 600 points and 13 first-place votes, followed by Case Western Reserve (OH) University (11-0, 578) at No. 2 with eight first-place votes, fellow ODAC member Guilford (NC) College (11-1, 534) at No. 3 with one first-place vote, Calvin (MI) University (10-1, 473) at No. 4 and Tufts (MA) University (11-1, 439) at No. 5 in the poll with one first-place vote, as well. The complete poll can be found at the link above, however, there are five ODAC schools ranked among the Top 25 ... including Virginia Wesleyan University (12-1) at No. 18, Randolph-Macon College (9-3) at No. 23 and Shenandoah University (12-0) at No. 25.
