RICHMOND, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College fell on the final day of the Simms/Flowers Classic to Catholic (DC) University 3-0 Sunday afternoon at City Stadium in Richmond.

The Cardinals struck first in the 15th minute to take the lead finishing off a chance from the edge for the box. The Cardinals were the dominant team in the first half, taking nine of the 10 shots in the first quarter and having six corner kicks, to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
It took Catholic seven and a half minutes to double their tally in the game. In the 75th minute, the Cardinals took a three-goal lead. The Tigers improved their shots in the second half, taking four shots, with two forcing the goalie into action.
The Tigers trailed overall in shots (15-5), and shots on target (5-2). The Tigers were also beaten in corners, with the Cardinals taking nine to their two.

Wills Huddleston (Baldwin, MD) made two saves in the losing effort for H-SC.
The Tigers will be back in action when they start Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play against the University of Lynchburg on Wednesday, September 20. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Hellmuth-Gibson Field.
